  • Publication number: 20220258383
Abstract: Methods of manufacturing an injection mold component are provided. The methods include printing a plurality of layers of a material into a near net shape mold of the injection mold component. The printing includes forming each layer in the plurality of layers upon another layer in the plurality of layers such that a volumetric part cavity is positioned between the plurality of layers. The volumetric part cavity corresponds to a coarse model of at least a portion of an injection moldable part. The method further includes removing material from the plurality of layers, whereby the volumetric part cavity expands to correspond to a precise model of the at least a portion of the injection moldable part and to form the injection mold component.

  • Publication number: 20220072616
Abstract: A system includes a controller, a pretreating machine, and an additive manufacturing machine. The pretreating machine is coupled to the controller. The pretreating machine includes a pretreater structured to form an interface layer on a component. The additive manufacturing machine is coupled to the controller. The additive manufacturing machine includes a material feed and a forming beam. The material feed is configured to selectively provide a first amount of material on the interface layer. The forming beam is configured to substantially melt the first amount of material, thereby forming a first layer of a first material deposit on the interface layer.

  • Publication number: 20160130995
Abstract: Oil pan assemblies and methods of draining oil pans are disclosed. An example oil pan assembly includes an oil pan defining first and second sumps. The first sump has a first lower surface and the second sump has a second lower surface. The second lower surface is elevated along a vertical axis relative to the first lower surface. The oil pan assembly also includes a siphon tube extending from an inlet positioned in the second sump to an outlet positioned proximate a drain hole in the first sump. The siphon tube is configured to automatically transmit oil from the second sump to the first sump upon oil being drained from the drain hole.

  • Patent number: 9234450
Abstract: This disclosure relates a water pump, a system for cooling internal combustion engine components including a water pump, and a method for operating an internal combustion engine including a water pump. The water pump, system and method provide protection of the pump impeller during dry pump operation, such as when a watercraft engine is started while the watercraft is out of water, by dispensing fluid from a reservoir to the pump's impeller chamber. The fluid enters the chamber via a controllable flow path and interacts with the impeller and chamber walls to cool and lubricate the impeller.

  • Patent number: 8876487
Abstract: This disclosure relates a water pump control system for an internal combustion engine, and a method for operating an internal combustion engine including a clutch-controlled water pump. The water pump control system and method provide protection of the pump impeller during dry pump operation, such as when a watercraft engine is started while the watercraft is out of water, by turning off the clutch-controlled pump when no water is detected at the inlet of the water pump.
