  • Patent number: 10543900
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling movement of an aircraft. An aerodynamic function desired for controlling the movement of the aircraft at a particular altitude is identified. The aerodynamic function identified is part of a group of aerodynamic functions used to control the movement of the aircraft at a number of different altitudes. A group of inflatable blades is filled with a fluid to a pressure that corresponds to the aerodynamic function. The group of inflatable blades at the pressure has a shape and a group of dimensions that provide the aerodynamic function.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 13, 2016
Date of Patent: January 28, 2020
    Assignee: The Boeing Company
Inventors: Roger David Bernhardt, Donald V. Drouin, Jr.
  • Patent number: 10371415
Abstract: An apparatus and method of controlling temperatures of a plurality of locations on a structure. A temperature at each of the plurality of locations is identified. A desired temperature for each of the plurality of locations is identified. Processing of a workload by a processor at each of the plurality of locations is controlled to control the temperature at each of the plurality of locations to match the corresponding desired temperature for each of the plurality of locations.

  • Patent number: 9157771
Abstract: A inventory identification method and system disclosed herein that includes a low electromagnetic radiation display device, at least one sensor electrically connected to the low electromagnetic radiation display device, an optical imaging device configured to optically generate an image of a display output of the low electromagnetic radiation display device, the display output configured to graphically represent at least one value received from the at least one sensor. The system further includes an optical processing system configured to receive and process the image from the display output of the low electromagnetic radiation display to determine device data based on the processed image, and a data transmitter configured to transmit the device data to a remote data collection device.

  • Patent number: 8984938
Abstract: A method and system for detecting wind patterns in association with a cargo package airdrop. The method includes dispersing media into the atmosphere, tracking the dispersed media, wherein tracking includes at least one of using Sodar, Lidar, Radar, and optical imaging, determining a wind pattern proximate an airdrop landing using the tracked media, and determining an airdrop location position using the determined wind pattern.

  • Patent number: 8781719
Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing an airdrop system. Wind around an aircraft is measured to form first wind information. Wind around a target location is measured to form second wind information. A four-dimensional wind profile for use in deploying the airdrop system from the aircraft is generated using the first wind information and the second wind information.
