  • Patent number: 5878963
Abstract: A discontinuity at the surface of tubing which intercepts a stream of fluid flowing along the surface of the tubing causing the fluid to form drops and causing the drops to fall at an intended location. The invention addresses in particular the installation of drip irrigation systems in hillside applications where drip irrigation tubing may not be level. Heating and cooling of the drip irrigation tubing causes the tubing and drip emitters to rotate. The water from the emitter which is rotated to face away from the area where irrigation drip is to be applied emerges as a stream and flows along the surface of the drip irrigation tubing until it encounters a slope which causes a drop to form. The failure of the water to form drops and fall at the position of the drip emitter and rather to flow along the tubing results in a loss of irrigation to the particular plant serviced by an emitter. Plants are thus subject to stress and reduced production.

  • Patent number: 5531474
Abstract: An inflator includes a housing formed by two cups interlocked to provide a tamper-proof enclosure with at least one of the cups formed with indentations for grasping by a tool to facilitate assembly of the cups. In a chamber of the housing is an initiator secured in place by a snap-fit. A canister containing tablets of gas generating material is held in the chamber by an interference fit. A filter is held in place in the housing by a ring-shaped retainer member. Passages within the housing direct gases from the initiator to the canister through the filter out of the housing into an air bag with the path of travel changing direction by at least 90.degree. to create turbulent flow for enhanced inflator gas production.

  • Patent number: 5492366
Abstract: An inflator includes a housing formed by two cups. An initiator is snap fit into an opening of a cup before the cup is connected to the other of the two cups. Flexible fingers on the outer surface of the initiator are biased inwardly as the initiator is inserted into the opening and then snap radially outward into an annular groove disposed on the inside surface of the opening to hold the initiator in the opening. An O-ring is then placed around the initiator between a shoulder of the initiator and a wall of the cup to bias the initiator away from the cup to ensure that the initiator remains in position and to seal the inside of the cup from the atmosphere.
