  • Patent number: 5987938
Abstract: A trailer kingpin locking apparatus, for use with a trailer having a kingpin with an annular groove, features a lock body with a cylindrical opening to receive a kingpin. A padlock channel, running transversely to the axis of the kingpin opening and sized to accommodate the body of a padlock, extends partially into the sidewall of the lock body. A shackle channel, parallel to and narrower than the padlock channel, extends inward from the padlock channel and intercepts the kingpin opening to form an opening thereinto. A retaining pin bridges the shackle channel near the kingpin opening. The locking apparatus may be slipped over a kingpin such that the shackle channel coincides with the annular groove of the kingpin. The shackle of a standard padlock is inserted into the shackle channel and around the retaining pin, with the shackle projecting partially into the annular groove and preventing the locking apparatus from being slipped off of the kingpin.

  • Patent number: 4893650
Abstract: A jam-proof, high pressure, check-valved input fitting comprising a travel limiting cage for controlling its internal valve spring system to prevent spring bending and cylinderization. A terminal engageably by a high pressure grease source leads to an internal tubular flow passageway comprising axially aligned inlets and outlets separated by a valve seat. A ball valve which contacts the valve seat to control fluid flow is biased by a spring coaxially seated within the upwardly projecting castellated end of the cage. The cage includes symmetrical, radially spaced apart legs and a plurality of relief orifices in the form of radially spaced apart slots defined between adjacent feet. The relief orifices establish fluid flow communication between the outside of the cage and its interior. When compressed downwardly against yieldable spring pressure, the ball is stopped by the cage before the spring can cylinderize.

  • Patent number: 4151978
Abstract: The invention relates to a valve assembly adapted in conjunction with a valve actuator to provide positive control of the stroke of hydraulic cylinders. The valve is attached to a pressure port on the cylinder and the actuator assembly is positioned on the side of the cylinder and held by means of clamps. The stroke of the cylinder is limited when the actuator arm is clamped on the piston shaft at a distance shorter than the full stroke of the cylinder. In this condition as the shaft moves into the cylinder, the actuator arm contacts closure means within the valve thereby closing off the valve and preventing further retraction of the cylinder. The apparatus of the invention is adapted to be supplied in the kit form and can be readily attached, externally to any existing hydraulic actuator.
