Abstract: A display apparatus is provided. The display apparatus includes a light source. The display apparatus includes a display target configured to receive light from the light source. The display target displays an image using at least a portion of the light received from the light source. The display apparatus includes a first reflective structure configured to reduce an outgoing angle of at least a portion of the light from the light source. The display apparatus includes a second reflective structure configured to longitudinally translate at least a portion of the light from at least one of the light source and the first reflective structure toward the display target.

Abstract: An image projection system having a first light emitting diode subsystem configured to generate a first source beam having a first spectral range in a first polarized state and a second light emitting diode subsystem configured to generate a second source beam having a second spectral range overlapping the first spectral range is provided. The second source beam may be provided in a second polarized state orthogonal to the first polarized state of the first source beam. The image projection system may further include an x-cube prism configured to receive the first source beam and the second source beam and combine the first source beam and the second source beam to form a common output beam.

Abstract: A head mounted projection unit (16) and system (30) is disclosed. The unit includes a tapered optical relay that allows the use of a simple optical projection system. The unit further includes structure for allowing the transmission of images having both low resolution portions and high resolution portions.

Abstract: A full color display optical system with chromatic aberration correction. The system includes a wide spectral band image source such as a cathode ray tube or Ferroelectric liquid crystal array, a field sequential Red-Green-Blue shutter, and an optical module for projection. The optical module corrects longitudinal chromatic aberration and higher order monochromatic and chromatic aberrations. Lateral chromatic aberration and chromatic distortion are compensated electronically by the color sequential shutter and the image source with a pre-distorted image.
