Patent number: 10857833Abstract: A caster assembly comprises a caster wheel having an outer surface. A wheel support is coupled to the wheel to support the wheel for rotation about a rotational axis and for swiveling about a swivel axis. A brake assembly comprises a brake having a cammed wheel engaging surface shaped to engage the outer surface of the wheel and a brake actuator to move the brake relative to the wheel from an unbraked position to a braked position in which the brake limits rotation of the wheel about the rotational axis. The cammed wheel engaging surface is arranged to articulate relative to the wheel support. The cammed wheel engaging surface articulates relative to the wheel support in response to the wheel rotating about the rotational axis after the brake is initially placed in the braked position such that the cammed wheel engaging surface more deeply engages the wheel with rotation of the wheel about the rotational axis.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2019Date of Patent: December 8, 2020Assignee: Stryker CorporationInventors: Kevin M. Patmore, Roger A. Graves, III, Adam Alexander, Shawn Trimble

Publication number: 20150127687Abstract: A computer device, system and method are provided which enable a hierarchical computer data structure to be created and modified as a cooperative activity involving a plurality of individuals or workgroups using independent computers and data structures without being connected by, or continuously connected by, a linking infrastructure such as a computer network. Sections of the data structure and supporting data may be exported as subfiles, modified, and later imported back into the hierarchical data structure. Controls are provided to manage the growth of the data structure and the modification or addition of common data. Changes to the data structure also may be disseminated to exported subfiles.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2014Publication date: May 7, 2015Inventor: Roger Graves

Patent number: 7606876Abstract: A method and system for keying media allows for the distribution of updateable content to an end user. The media are any type of processor readable, portable apparatus containing a preinstalled Keying Application and unique Source ID. A particular medium is provided to an end user and the end user runs the Keying Application on a network-connected electronic device, such as a computer or PDA. The Keying Application interacts with a Content Server via the network connection. The end user also interacts with the Content Server via the Keying Application. Through these interactions, the Content Server distributes specific updateable content to the Keying Application, which displays the specific content to the end user. The content may comprise catalog and directory information.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2004Date of Patent: October 20, 2009Assignee: Kincaid Technology CorporationInventors: Roger Graves, Preston Kincaid

Publication number: 20050055636Abstract: A method is provided for automatically preparing digital image data received by a computer for insertion into particular applications, such as a web site, where predetermined image parameters are desired. The computer is programmed to automatically determine if the received image conforms to a desired height and width, and if it does not, the computer automatically adjusts the image data to bring the dimensions into conformance. The computer also automatically checks the data format, and if it does not conform to a desired format, the data is converted. The computer also automatically checks the image resolution, and if it does not conform to a desired value, the computer adjusts the resolution accordingly.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 21, 2004Publication date: March 10, 2005Inventor: Roger Graves

Patent number: 5489247Abstract: An adaptive control system/method for an at least partially automated mechanical transmission system (10) is provided for determining if selected upshifts into a target gear ratio are feasible (208) or not feasible (210) under current vehicle operating conditions and for prohibiting the initiation of not feasible selected upshifts. If upshifts determined to be feasible are not completed by the system, the logic rules by which upshift feasibility is determined are modified to render such rules less aggressive.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 1994Date of Patent: February 6, 1996Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventors: Ronald K. Markyvech, Roger A. Graves, Jr.

Patent number: 5445126Abstract: A system and method for automatically calibrating an electronic accelerator pedal having an idle validation switch is disclosed. Automatic calibration accommodates variation between vehicles so that error tolerances may be reduced. The system and method utilize the idle validation switch in combination with the accelerator pedal to provide redundancy by cross-checking signals received from each component. Automatic calibration is performed throughout operation of the vehicle. An initial idle position and an initial full throttle setting are chosen to induce a vehicle operator to fully depress the accelerator pedal. The fully depressed pedal determines the new full throttle position. Thereafter, under proper conditions, a new full throttle position (and analogously a new idle position) is set when a pedal sensor indicates the current position exceeds the current full throttle set point (or is less than the current idle set point).Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1994Date of Patent: August 29, 1995Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventor: Roger A. Graves, Jr.

Patent number: 5329826Abstract: A pneumatic control system (200) for controlling the automated shifting of the splitter section (114) of an automated compound transmission (110) is provided. Shifting of the splitter section is controlled by a differential area piston/cylinder actuator assembly (162) having a first chamber (168A) associated with low-speed operation and a second chamber (170A) associated with high-speed operation. Pressurization and exhaust of each of the chambers is controlled by an individual independently controlled solenoid actuated valve (202 and 204 respectively), each of which operates in response to control signals from an ECU 124.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1992Date of Patent: July 19, 1994Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventors: Roger A. Graves, Jr., William J. Mack
