  • Patent number: 10401943
Abstract: The present disclosure provides devices, systems and methods directed towards smart plurality of sensors for power management. More specifically, the present disclosure provides devices, systems and methods that can reduce the amount of power consumed by the plurality of sensors by evaluating when sensors should be activated or deactivated. By reducing the amount of time a particular sensor is actively polling for information, power consumed by the plurality of sensors associated with the wearable device can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20180014778
Abstract: A wearable device includes: a band configured to at least partially surround a body part of a user; a clasp configured to hold the band in a closed position, wherein the band resists removal from the body part while in the closed position; a lock actuator configured to selectively lock the clasp against moving to an open position; a communication interface configured to receive data from at least one other device; and a processor in communication with the lock actuator and the communication interface, wherein the processor is configured to: receive a locking indication that the wearable device is to be unlocked, and in response to receiving the locking indication, signal the lock actuator to allow the clasp to transition to the open position. The device may further comprise a physiological sensor (e.g. an accelerometer for motion sensing), and an indication to allow unlocking of the clasp may for example be received upon reaching a predefined goal measured by said physiological sensor, e.g.

  • Publication number: 20140122104
Abstract: The invention concerns a system, method, apparatus, and computer readable medium for promoting a healthier life style of a subject. The method includes the steps of detecting a triggering event relating to a subject, reviewing a user profile associated with the subject which includes information relating to the subject, searching a text fragment database including a collection of text fragments and selecting appropriate text fragments based in part on the specific user profile of the particular subject, and sending the text fragments selected to a coach for forwarding to the subject, review, or amendment.

  • Patent number: 5563809
Abstract: A paper web is monitored for measurement and manufacturing control by a stationary web sensor extending across the entire web which is raster scanned by the motion of the web. Massive amounts of data are processed by a look up table memory addressed by digitized sensor data and the output from a reference memory containing element specific information. The lookup table is loaded with data to define a characteristic or property of the web corresponding to digitized sensor data interpreted in view of element specific data from the reference memory. Rapidly processed data is stored in a memory in a form facilitating its display and interpretation by an operator of the web manufacturing machine and also control of the machine. By controlling operation of the machine, uniformity of the web is substantially improved and, by taking the measurements closely adjacent the initial processing end of the web, corrections of nonuniformity in the web are quickly effected.
