  • Patent number: 6125675
Abstract: A wire drawing machine includes a draw die for reducing unfinished wire to a predetermined size, a power-driven capstan rotatable about a horizontal axis for drawing wire through the die, and an integral floor-mounted coil-supporting table which carries a coil of unfinished wire for processing through the die. The machine components are located in and connected to a generally L-shaped housing proximate to and wrapping partially around the coil-supporting table. The wire is guided along a path above the coil and housing as the wire travels from the coil to the die such that the floor space needed to process the unfinished wire is confined to the combined space of the turntable and housing.

  • Patent number: 5570728
Abstract: A wire feeding and cutoff machine in which the feed mechanism continuously advances wire along a path past a wire cutoff arm and into an elongated wire guide having a stationary guide member and a movable closure member. The cutoff arm is pivotally mounted on a cutoff arm axis and is driven by a crank connected to the output shaft of a one-revolution clutch. The crank drives the cutoff arm and moves a cutter downwardly from an initial position and then back to clear the wire path during a first half of the crank revolution. A drive mechanism for the movable closure member is connected to the cutoff and moves movable closure to an open position in response to movement of the cutoff arm in a cutting stroke and to a closed position during movement of the cutoff arm in the return. The drive mechanism also operates an ejector pin for ejecting a wire from the wire guide when the movable closure member is opened.

  • Patent number: 5253498
Abstract: A bending brake including a horizontal lower clamp jaw, a bending beam mounted for pivotal movement about a horizontal relative to the lower clamp jaw, and an upper jaw carrier mounted for vertical movement into and out of work clamping engagement with the lower jaw. The upper jaw carrier has a plurality of clamp jaws mounted at angularly spaced locations on the carrier and carrier position control mechanism is provided for turning and locking the upper jaw carrier to selectively position different upper clamp jaws in an operational position relative to the lower clamp jaw.

  • Patent number: 4879894
Abstract: A press having a work positioning carriage for moving a workpiece horizontally along relatively transverse X and Y axes to position different areas of a workpiece at a work station. Lower forming tools are fixed at the work station and a lower stripper is mounted for vertical movement relative to the lower forming tools. Upper press tools are mounted on the press ram and operative when the ram is moved downwardly to force the workpiece downwardly over the lower forming tools and depress the lower stripper. The lower stripper is yieldably biased upwardly to raise the workpiece off the lower press tools when the upper press tools are raised. A work carrier is mounted for horizontal movement by the work positioning carriage and the work carrier has a workpiece support that is vertically movable relative to the work carrier.

  • Patent number: 4669346
Abstract: A machine for operating on sheet stock workpieces having stock grippers mounted on a work positioning carriage for moving the sheet stock workpiece along first and second relatively transverse paths in the plane of the stock to position the workpiece at predetermined positions relative to the machine tools. Work grippers are mounted on the work positioning carriage for adjustment relative to the carriage when the work grippers are released and the work grippers are automatically clamped against movement relative to the carriage when the work grippers are actuated to grip the stock.

  • Patent number: 4646599
Abstract: A punch press having a hydraulic actuator for extending and retracting the ram, a stripper sleeve coaxial with and guidably engaging the ram, and a hydraulically operated clamp encircling the stripper sleeve and normally in a release condition guidably engaging the stripper sleeve. Hydraulic fluid pressure supply apparatus is operable to a first condition supplying fluid pressure to the hydraulic ram actuator to move the ram forwardly, and a stripper clamp spring yieldably urges the stripper sleeve forwardly into clamping engagement with the workpiece as the ram is moved forwardly. The hydraulic fluid pressure supply apparatus is operable to a second condition supplying fluid pressure to the hydraulically operated clamp to clamp the stripper sleeve against movement and to also supply fluid pressure to the hydraulic ram actuator to move the ram to a return position while the clamp holds the sleeve against return movement.
