  • Patent number: 6641338
Abstract: A plug ejecting hole saw (20) includes an arbor holder (21) removably attachable to saw cups (22A), (22B) having small and large non-circular attachment bores (41A), (41B), lockingly engageable by front and rear bosses (61), (63) of a nose-piece (54) which protrudes from a locking body (50) longitudinally slidably held in a collar (45). Bosses (61), (63) have transverse grooves (68), (68B) intersected by a longitudinal groove (53) slidably holding a lug (81) biased forward in groove (53) by a spring (90) to block grooves (68), (68B) with front and rear locking tabs (110), (120); grooves (68) (68B) are unblocked to rotatably engage wall segments of a saw cup bore (41A), (41B), by pushing a saw cup (22A) (22B) rearward against tabs (110), (120). Grooves (68), (68B) are unblocked to enable rotatable disengagement of a saw cup from nose-piece (54) by pulling collar (45) rearward relative to a saw cup.

  • Patent number: 6409436
Abstract: A plug ejecting hole saw includes a cylindrical saw cup provided with front cutting teeth, and an end wall having therethrough a non-circular concentric aperture; and an arbor holder removably attachable to a saw cup that includes a collar slidably holding a body including a nose piece, that has a cross-section which fits congruently within the aperture, and a pair of longitudinal grooves, which slidably hold locking tabs biased forward by springs to abut transverse ribs in the nose piece. The longitudinal grooves intersect a pair of transverse grooves blocked by the tabs. Inserting the nose piece into a cup aperture and pushing it forward causes each tab to be pushed rearward in a longitudinal groove, unblocking the transverse grooves and allowing the nose piece to be rotated relative to the saw cup, each tab springing forward to block a transverse groove and thereby lock the arbor holder to the sawcup.

  • Publication number: 20020037201
Abstract: A plug ejecting hole saw includes a saw cup provided at a front annular edge wall thereof with a plurality of forward protruding angled cutting teeth, and having at a rear end thereof a circular base wall having therethrough a non-circular aperture concentric with the cup. An arbor holder removably attachable to a saw cup of a selected size includes a collar axially slidably holding therewithin a central body having a front nose piece which protrudes axially outward of the collar, the front nose piece having a transverse cross-sectional shape adapted to be inheritably received into the saw cup aperture. The nose piece has formed in longitudinal wall surfaces thereof a pair of diametrically opposed, longitudinally disposed grooves, each of which longitudinally slidably holds therewithin a locking tab member urged forward to abut a separate one of a pair of diametrically opposed, front transversely disposed web ribs formed in the nose piece axially inward of the front transverse face of the nose piece.

  • Patent number: 5096341
Abstract: A hole saw and drive includes a cup-shaped saw body having a closed end and a plurality of cutting teeth. A left-hand threaded collar is secured to the closed end and defines one or more drive tabs extending into the saw body interior. A left-hand threaded mandrel is received within the threaded collar and includes a pilot drill and intermediate outwardly extending flange. An additional set of one or more drive tabs extend upwardly toward the threaded collar from the flange. The drive tabs cooperate to couple rotational power from the mandrel to the saw body. The left-hand threads on the mandrel and collar cooperate to permit the reverse rotational operation of the mandrel to expel a cutting plug from the saw body interior.

  • Patent number: 5078591
Abstract: A candle includes a candle body formed of a quantity of candle wax. In one embodiment, a stationary wick is embedded within the candle body and a movable wick is supported within the candle body by a bimetallic coil spring. The heat produced by the burning of the movable and stationary wicks causes a relative motion between the movable wick and the stationary wick. In an alternate embodiment a pair of movable wicks are supported by a pair of bimetallic coil springs such that the heat produced by the burning wicks causes the coil springs to join the movable wicks to produce a combined flame. In a still further alternate embodiment, a pair of bimetallic coil springs and a central wick are supported within a candle body. A pair of upwardly extending arms are coupled to the bimetallic coil springs and support a corresponding pair of heart-shaped members. The heat produced by the central candle wick is operative upon the bimetallic coil springs to cause the heart-shaped members to be joined as the candle burns.

  • Patent number: 4741651
Abstract: An improved hole saw is disclosed. A mandrel of the hole saw forms an elongated threaded body. The mandrel, at a first end forms a shank adapted to be secured in the chuck of a hand power drill or drill press. The second end of the mandrel forms an enlarged, radially extended, circular flange having a recessed axially aligned hole formed therein. The shank end of, for example, a quarter inch pilot-hole drill is secured in the flanged end of the mandrel by one or more set screws. The mandrel is inserted, shank end first, into the open serrated cutting end of a cylindrically shaped hole saw. The threaded shank end of the mandrel is screwed into a threaded base of the hole saw, the radially extended flange of the mandrel being mated to and tightened against the inside base end of the hole saw.
