  • Patent number: 6135818
Abstract: A die cast metal shell for an electrical connector is made up of a base and cover. Cable braid deforming teeth are die cast into a cable entry passage at the rear of the shell, and a thin wall front shield is integrally die cast with the base to provide a low resistance path between the cable braid and the front shield. A circuit board may be positioned in a backshell portion of the base, the circuit board including traces to which wires of the cable are terminated and extending forwardly from the backshell through a relatively narrow front opening to form a set of contacts for the connector.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 8, 1998
Date of Patent: October 24, 2000
    Assignee: Amphenol Corporation
Inventors: Roger J. Lang, John Majernik

  • Patent number: 4648677
Abstract: Two pairs of a first cover (52,53) mounted over a second covers (62,63) captivate and strain relieve respective flat wire cables upon the wires being passed between the respective cover pair and the cover pairs being latched to a connector housing. Respective contacts in the housing are secured therein by a comb (34).

  • Patent number: 4439001
Abstract: A multi-socket connection device, forming an electrical connection with flat ribbon cable, contains a series of individual connectors mounted in a multi-socket connector body. The connector body has a recess for accepting individual connector members and for holding the connector in engagement with the body. The connector member is aligned in its socket to resists displacement of the connector from the socket when a second connector is placed in an electrical engagement with the connector. Additionally, the connector has a means for engaging a cap. The cap is placed on top of the wires forcing the wires down into the connector to form an electrical connection and a latch means on the connector engages the cap to hold the cap firmly in place in the assembled position.

  • Patent number: 4165559
Abstract: This invention relates to a re-formable multi-conductor flat, or ribbon, cable, which comprises a plurality of spaced insulated conductors, aligned in a predetermined, laterally spaced, pattern along a single sheet or film of plastic, the single sheet of plastic being only intermittently bonded to the laterally spaced conductors. The intermittent bonding pattern preferably utilized is one that results in transverse, peelably bonded, areas extending across the width of the entire cable alternating with transverse unbonded areas which also extend across the width of the entire cable.

  • Patent number: 4012577
Abstract: This invention relates to a multi-conductor laminated cable which comprises a plurality of insulated wire conductor twisted pairs laminated between plastic film, the twisted pairs being aligned in the laminated cable in a manner such that each of the twisted pairs may be separated and terminated more readily, and faster, than present state of the art laminated twisted pair cable -- with little sacrifice in the electrical characteristics. Further, the resulting laminated cable of this invention has an overall narrower cable width for a given number of twisted pairs laminated therein.
