Abstract: A method of completing a wellbore that includes providing wellbore casing having shaped charges and permanent pressure gauges on an outer surface of the casing. In an example of use, the casing is inserted into the wellbore and cement is injected into an annulus formed between the casing and wellbore. The shaped charges are strategically deployed on the casing so they aim towards a wall of the wellbore and are spaced apart along the casing. Thus detonating the shaped charges creates perforations into a formation around the wellbore and places the pressure gauges into pressure communication with the formation. Pressure readings are delivered to the surface from the pressure gauges in the form of signals.

Abstract: A completion method delivers cement to an open hole below a cemented casing. A gun or guns are run below a liner and a hanger and advanced into the cement before it sets up. With the gun and the liner surrounded in cement up to close to the hanger that supports the liner to the already cemented casing, the cement is allowed to set around the gun with no tubular surrounding the gun. The gun carries extra shot to enhance the perforation and can be fluid filled with clean fluid. Prior well cleaning such as with brine circulation is now limited to the region of the hanger and above. Production flow is through the perforations into the gun body allowing any residue of the explosive charge used to perforate to flow to surface.

Abstract: An isolation system employing a containment zone within the casing or tubing of a wellbore. The containment zone can be isolated from the wellbore pressure and leak tested to ensure no leakage is occurring across the zone. The isolation system prevents wellbore pressure below the system from communicating with the surface, thereby allowing for safe egress of tools from within the wellbore.
