  • Patent number: 10569237
Abstract: A system and method for introducing a slurry mixture for making gypsum board is disclosed. The system includes, for example, a mixer, a foam injector, and a canister for mixing and moving a slurry mixture of foam and gypsum slurry. Also included in the system is an apparatus having a funnel body constructed and arranged to further mix the slurry mixture. The funnel body includes a number of baffles projecting from its inner wall towards a center and that are spaced around the inner wall. The baffles induce turbulence into the slurry mixture as the slurry mixture moves towards its outlet, thus further mixing the mixture and reducing the flow rate of the slurry mixture before its exits from the outlet for depositing onto paper to form the gypsum board.

  • Publication number: 20190152869
Abstract: A system and method for introducing a slurry mixture for making gypsum board is disclosed. The system includes a mixer for mixing slurry and directing it to an exit gate, a foam injector for injecting foam into the slurry, and a canister connected to the mixer for inducing swirl to the slurry. The system also includes an elongated hose and an optional adapter for depositing the slurry onto paper to form the board. Ends of the elongated hose are coupled to the canister and to the inlet of the adapter. Slurry is directed from the canister, through the hose, and into the adapter for exiting its outlet. Optionally, a mixing boot and/or elbow joints may be included. Use of the hose and adapter enhances the flexibility of the system, including moving the mixer offline or adjacent to the paper or belt, and improves foam blending in the slurry mixture.

  • Patent number: 9998089
Abstract: A resonator device 10 is disclosed. The resonator device may be used in a transducer or a sensor such as a pressure, force or acceleration sensor. The resonator device comprises a resonator 20 provided on a diaphragm 30. A cap 40 is provided which may be fusion bonded to the diaphragm 30 to enclose the resonator 20 and form a hermetically sealed package 10. The resonator device is excited by applying electromagnetic stimulation, such as infra-red or optical stimulation, which may be from a laser via a fiber 50. The resonator device may be interrogated by applying an electromagnetic signal into the optical cavity formed between the resonator 20 and the inside surface of the cap 40 to derive a frequency change of the resonator. As the resonator device incorporates a hermetically sealed package and is stimulated by electromagnetic radiation, it is robust and able to operate in harsh environments.

  • Patent number: 9756318
Abstract: A method is provided for processing image data for display by a multiple-view display device (24) so as to reduce the visibility of undesirable artefacts. Image pixel data are received (20, 21) representing the pixel brightnesses of respective images or sequences of images. The pixel data are processed (22) by applying a unidirectional filter. The processed pixel data for the images may then be interleaved (23) and supplied to the display device (24).

  • Patent number: 9304342
Abstract: A display device is provided that comprises a liquid crystal display panel (2) for displaying an image by spatial light modulation. The image is represented by a plurality of image elements each having an image data value (7). The display device further comprises a display controller (1) arranged to determine a signal voltage to be applied to the panel (2) for each image element in dependence upon its image data value (7) and a secondary data value (8) for the element, there being a predetermined mapping between the data values and the signal voltage. The secondary data values (8) are arranged to vary across the image so as to introduce variations in luminance as a result of the mapping. The mapping and secondary data values (8) are mutually arranged to take account of the signal voltage to on-axis luminance response of the panel (2) so that the luminance variations introduced on-axis tend to balance locally through spatial averaging to, and hence would not be perceivable by, an on-axis viewer (3).
