  • Patent number: 8089926
Abstract: In a data communication network a first and second network site, communicate by sending a first data transmission from the first network site to a second network site and by sending a second data transmission from said second network site to said first network site. Data transmission characteristics of said first data transmission are determined and radio resources for said data transmission are allocated based on the determined first data transmission characteristics. Thus, the radio resources for the second data transmission are correlated with characteristics of the first data transmission and thus delays in the data transmission between the first and second network site can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 7417966
Abstract: In a data communication network (SYS) a first and second network site (BSS), (MS) communicate by sending a first data transmission (DT1) from the first network site (BSS) to a second network site (MS) and by sending a second data transmission (DT2) from said second network site (MS) to said first network site (BSS). In accordance with the invention data transmission characteristics (DTC1) of said first data transmission (DT1) are determined and radio resources for said data transmission (DT2) are allocated based on the determined first data transmission characteristics (DTC1). Thus, the radio resources for the second data transmission (DT2) are correlated with characteristics of the first data transmission (DT1) and thus delays in the data transmission between the first and second network site (BSS, MS) can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 6947394
Abstract: A flexible Radio Link Control (RLC) protocol for a mobile communication system is provided, whereby a plurality of different RLC functions are defined. These different RLC functions can be combined in a number of different ways to produce a complete and functional, but more flexible RLC protocol than the existing protocol. For example, a new set of rules are provided for determining how and/or when to poll for, or send, a status report for Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) purposes. As such, for a specific service configuration, one set of the rules can be used, and for a different service configuration, another set of the rules can be used. In this way, the rules can be conformed suitably to the type of service involved.

  • Publication number: 20040106417
Abstract: A method and device for transmitting signals of a first category and signals of a second category over a link, said link providing a predetermined signal transmission rate, where said signals of the first category have a discontinuous characteristic comprising periods of activity and periods of inactivity, where a first channel is provided for carrying signals of the first category and a second channel is provided for carrying signals of the second category, and where the two channels each have respective proportions of the predetermined signal transmission rate of the link during periods of activity of the signals of the first category, and the proportion of the signal transmission rate assigned to the second channel during periods of inactivity of the signals of the first category is increased with respect to the period of activity.
