Patent number: 5156273Abstract: A composite lid closure assembly, for use with a container body, comprising a paper board central panel coated on two sides with sealable material and bonded to a semi-rigid plastic lid ring. The lid ring and central panel are ultrasonically bonded together.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1992Date of Patent: October 20, 1992Assignee: Empak, Inc.Inventor: Roger L. Mortensen

Patent number: 4817799Abstract: Rigid memory disk package including a package base, a package cover and locks and clips for engaging the package cover to the package case. The low profile of the package base provides for robotic access to the disk. A plurality of dividers in the base support the disks. The top includes a plurality of dividers on each side and two rows of flexible fingers in the top for spring biasing against opposing edges of the disk accordingly when the cover is engaged to the base.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1986Date of Patent: April 4, 1989Assignee: Empak, Inc.Inventors: Barry Gregerson, Larry Dressen, Roger L. Mortensen

Patent number: 4724963Abstract: Wafer processing cassette for the processing of silicon wafers, which includes a plurality of open, reinforced, dual cross-section profiled wafer dividers for structural integrity and for supporting a plurality of wafers in alignment in opposing mirror image dividers of the cassette for automated robotic processing of the wafers while in the cassette. The cassette utilizes a cross-bar end with a configured rod reinforced open cross-bar, which is fully functional and strategically located for structural integrity. The dividers are supported by two pairs of longitudinal horizontal supports secured to ends providing for a multi-level, flow-through, open area between each of the dual profile geometrically configured dividers for ease of entry and passage of liquids during automated processing. Rapid fluid flow and drying of the cassette is effected using extra smooth cassette surfaces, rounded edges, filled corners, drain recesses, drain scuppers, and ramped surfaces. The rear area includes a downward arch.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1986Date of Patent: February 16, 1988Assignee: Empak, Inc.Inventor: Roger L. Mortensen

Patent number: 4687097Abstract: Wafer cassette for processing of silicon wafers which includes a plurality of open supported reinforced wafer dividers for supporting a plurality of wafers in alignment in opposing dividers of the cassette and for automated robotic processing of the wafers while in the cassette. The wafer cassette utilizes an H-bar end with a configured rod reinforced open H-front which is fully functional and strategically located. The dividers are supported by one or two pairs of longitudinal horizontal supports secured to the ends providing for an open area between each of the dividers for passage of liquids during automated processing, and vertical support bars are provided for strengthening of positioning members of the cassette. The rear end includes a downward arch. The processing wafer cassette provides for "on-center" processing where the carrier center of gravity is on-center of the axis of centrifugal wafer processing machinery.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1984Date of Patent: August 18, 1987Assignee: Empak, Inc.Inventor: Roger L. Mortensen

Patent number: 4669612Abstract: Processing cassette for processing of hard rigid memory disks including a plurality of open supported opposing disk dividers for supporting a plurality of disks in alignment by the dividers of the cassette. The cassette is intended for use in automated robotic processing of the disks while in the cassette. The wafer cassette includes similar mirror image like opposed ends with deep wide downwardly inverted arches. The dividers are supported by two pairs of horizontal supports secured to the ends, providing for both upper and lower open process wash areas between each of the dividers for passage of liquids during automated robotic processing. Surfaces of the cassette are non-porous and extremely smooth. All edges and corners are radiused facilitating quick and effective drying of the cassette during robotic processing. On-center processing is provided for the disk processing cassette, where the carrier center of gravity is on-center for an axis of centrifugal disk processing machinery.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 1985Date of Patent: June 2, 1987Assignee: Empak Inc.Inventor: Roger L. Mortensen

Patent number: 4634004Abstract: Magnetic tape security housing including two mirror imaged halves which mate together with opposing hooks and latches forming a magnetic tape security package, with combination U-shaped carrying handle and package hanging ports, for encompassing a cardboard box containing a magnetic tape, such as a video game tape, cassette tape, a VHS or Beta video tape, floppy disks, or other like valuables. The mated housings engage integrally together to form a package to protect a box containing a magnetic tape or the like. The only way that the box can be removed from the package is through destruction of the housing members. The package is non-openable except through total destruction of one or both of the housing members.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1984Date of Patent: January 6, 1987Assignee: Empak Inc.Inventor: Roger L. Mortensen

Patent number: 4582219Abstract: Storage box including a box, a box door, and two locking clips. The storage box is used with standard mechanical interface (SMIF) transfer equipment, and is sealable, dust proof, and stackable. The box door includes cross-bar locators for cross-bar wafer cassettes, and a notch for cover alignment with the SMIF box door. The box door will also accept other types of wafer processing cassettes. Each of the locking clips engage into a clip enclosure outboard of the box, and includes a locking slot for the locking clip, as well as a latch pin opening which provides for movement of the latch pin.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 1985Date of Patent: April 15, 1986Assignee: EMPAK, Inc.Inventors: Roger L. Mortensen, Barry Gregerson, Jeffrey J. Smith, Larry G. Dressen
