  • Patent number: 4726448
Abstract: A device for controlling the application of lubricant to parts of a locomotive or a vehicle is taught. Briefly stated, the distance traveled by the locomotive or the like is computed, with lubrication to a component then being provided. The distance between lubrication application may be adjusted, as well as the amount of lubrication being applied. Further, this rate and amount of lubrication, as well as the use of lubrication at all, can be manually or automatically adjusted according to various sensors such as braking, sanding, reversing curves or the like.

  • Patent number: 3940675
Abstract: A lateral feed position system for a single slide grinder or the like wherein a wheel spindle is displaced between a sequence of preset end points. The end points are input from decade switches as position commands and compared to a current position count in a digital comparator unit. An oscillator is energized to apply up or down count signals to the comparator depending on the result of the comparison. The same signals are applied to a stepper motor. Actual displacement signals from a shaft angle encoder are compared to the position commands to advise a sequencer that the spindle is "in position" so that the next command can be input. Means are provided to adjust the actual position counts to compensate for wheel wear. Specific circuits are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 3939453
Abstract: A sequence controller for an automatic grinding machine or the like for controlling a sequence of machine functions and for providing a display of digital information which explicitly directs an operator through manual or semi-manual functions and which also provides diagnostic information. Diagnostic information is displayed on two levels, the first level is defined as "input code" which represents signals generated by a programmable controller to define the machine requirements due at any given time. These signals are normally compared with "requirements met" signals from input devices to determine whether or not the sequence should be advanced. The second level of signals are termed "cycle step commands" which represent signals sequentially generated in the controller to actuate specific machine functions. The controller may advance sequentially or non-sequentially. Circuit boards are correlated in physical location to cycle step command codes.
