  • Patent number: 8265061
Abstract: There is assigned at least one first cost for expanding at least one link to a circuit-switched network that is part of a hybrid network comprising the circuit switched network and a packet switched network. All paths in the packet switched network are represented with a virtual link. A cost is assigned to the virtual link. An integer programming problem is solved to determine a number of links to add to the network, the integer programming problem having as inputs a model of the hybrid network and a demand forecast matrix.

  • Publication number: 20110046991
Abstract: A method of improving sales performance over multiple geographical sales regions includes determining (305) characteristics of each of the geographical sales regions and determining sales parameters, over which control can be exercised, for each of the sales regions. The method further includes modeling (310, 315, 320, 405) each of the sales regions based on the determined characteristics and sales parameters to create a model and determining (410), using the model, scores for sales parameters and revenue for each of the sales regions that allow direct comparison between each of the sales regions. The method also includes comparing (415) the scores for each of the sales regions to determine how to adjust the sales parameters to increase revenue for each of the sales regions.

  • Publication number: 20090150205
Abstract: In an exemplary system, a capital allocation subsystem is selectively and communicatively coupled to a project screening subsystem. The project screening subsystem is configured to aggregate project data corresponding to a plurality of potential projects within an organization and communicate the project data to the capital allocation subsystem. The capital allocation subsystem is configured to facilitate input of one or more constraints on allocation of capital among the potential projects and adjust at least one of the constraints to select a subset of the potential projects for the allocation of the capital such that a return on the capital is optimized.

  • Patent number: 7319973
Abstract: A new system of analyzing advertising revenue derivation is provided that is particularly useful for predicting an amount of revenue that can be expected from advertisements placed in a business directory book having a certain geographic coverage. The system comprises estimating a preference factor of advertisers located in a first geographic area of placing advertisements in other geographic areas. This preference factor, along with other demographic data, is used to calculate a choice probability that advertisers will choose to place an advertisement in one business directory book over other competing books. A total amount of expected revenue for each particular geographic area within a metropolitan area is calculated. Finally, the total amount of expected revenue attributable to a particular business directory book is predicted based on the choice probability and the total amount of expected revenue for each geographic area.

  • Patent number: 7162017
Abstract: A method determines a threshold for increasing telephone line capacity in a telecommunications system. The method includes receiving a group of parameters that relate to at least one of a telephone line management policy (1030), environmental parameters (1020), and cost parameters (1010) and determining the threshold based on the received parameters.
