  • Publication number: 20250042529
Abstract: A marine vessel can include a tank configured to be at least partially submerged in water during normal operations. The marine vessel can also include a vent pipe disposed within the hull, where the vent pipe has a first end and a second end, where the first end of the vent pipe extends above the water, where the second end of the vent pipe is disposed in a tank in the hull, and where the vent pipe is sized along its length between the first end and the second end to allow an inspection apparatus to pass therethrough.

  • Publication number: 20230356814
Abstract: A tank is secured under the keel of a floating structure for offshore energy development. The tank is filled with ballast material that supplements or replaces the ballast already present on the floating structure, thereby gaining larger topsides payload capacity for the floating structure or increasing stability and motion performance of the floating structure.

  • Patent number: 9902472
Abstract: A semi-submersible floating structure for the drilling and production of offshore oil and gas is provided. The semi-submersible floating structure includes a pontoon having a plurality of pontoon sections, an outer edge, and an inner edge, the pontoon sections defining an interior space. The semi-submersible floating structure further includes a plurality of columns extending vertically upward from the pontoon. Each column has an upper section having an upper column width; and a lower section. The lower section has a bottom end coupled to the pontoon and aligned with the outer edge of the pontoon, the bottom end having a lower column width greater than the upper column width, at least part of the bottom end protruding into the interior space. The lower section further has a flared portion between the upper section and the bottom end; the flared portion having a width that varies from the upper column width at the upper section to the lower column width at the bottom end.

  • Publication number: 20170032853
Abstract: A nuclear fuel assembly grid that includes two zones, a protected zone and a crumbled zone. The crumbled zone occupies the periphery of the grid and is designed to experience plastic deformation under high impact loads and the protected zone occupies the interior of the grid where the control rod guide thimbles are located and protects all of the control rod guide thimble locations by experiencing only plastic deformation under such loads.

  • Patent number: 8369475
Abstract: A nuclear fuel assembly support grid formed from an array of a plurality of orthogonally arranged straps in an egg-crate configuration with angled trailing and/or leading edges that are designed to break the correlation of vortices shed from the edges of the grid straps by varying the phase of the vortices to avoid resonant vibration of the straps.

  • Publication number: 20060252469
Abstract: A shut down mechanism for handheld devices is disclosed. The shut down mechanism for handheld devices consists of a fixing part, a magnetic object and a magnetic sensor. The fixing part is disposed on a handheld device for fixing batteries of the handheld device, the magnetic object is arranged on the fixing part and the magnetic sensor is set on the handheld device. When the fixing part is rotated for replacing batteries, the magnetic sensor detects magnetic power from the magnetic object and sends a signal to a central processing unit in the handheld device for running shut down procedure. Thus when users replace batteries of handheld devices without turning off the handheld device, the shut down procedure is executed automatically so as to avoid malfunction or damage of the handheld device.
