    Abstract: Bandwidth in an IPTV environment is managed by determining when the available bandwidth may be exceeded if a new video stream is added, and, prior to exceeding the available bandwidth, choosing a particular video stream to halt. The user of the particular video stream is then asked for permission to halt the particular video stream and then the video stream is halted before starting to receive the new video stream.
