  • Patent number: 4921759
Abstract: A high optical quality transparent plastic sheet having a polyurethane layer formed by reactive pouring or reactive pulverization onto a flat horizontal support of a reaction mixture containing a polyol component and an isocyanate component, with the surface of the polyurethane layer which was facing the support during the formation of the layer containing an acrylic polymer resulting from the contact, during deposition of the reaction mixture, of the reaction mixture with a thin acrylic layer previously deposited on the support. The acrylic layer and the polyurethane layer are interpenetrated.

  • Patent number: 4840657
Abstract: Each glass plate, brought to a high temperature, arrives flat on a conveyor by resting there by its lower face, is picked up by its lower face, is turned over to bring its initially lower face into the upper position, and is then placed on a bending form the profile of which it assumes. A device for accomplishing this process has a pivoting plate capable of turning the glass plate over, a bending form, optional pressing means, and a frame for conveying bent glass plates to a succeeding work station.

  • Patent number: 4232080
Abstract: A safety window comprises at least one sheet of glass, which may be tempered, and, on the side thereof facing a interior of the vehicle in which the window is to be mounted, a sheet of transparent plastic material bonded adhesively thereto, the plastic material possessing a high capacity of elastic deformation, a modulus of elasticity below 2,000 daN/cm.sup.2 and an elongation to rupture in excess of 60% with less than 2% plastic deformation, the plastic material having self-healing properties and capable of protecting occupants of the vehicle from being cut if said sheet of glass is broken.

  • Patent number: 4136214
Abstract: Method and apparatus for the continuous production of transparent films, sheets, or plates of high optical quality are disclosed. Material in liquid form flows onto a substrate comprising a plurality of discrete, distortion-free panels, disposed in end-to-end abutting relationship and moved continuously beneath a flow head from which the material flows onto the panels. The panels move on a conveyor system that progressively slows the speed of the plates, so that leading and trailing edges of successive panels abut to form a continuous surface as the panels pass beneath the flow head. Yieldable, elastic sealing strips are placed between the panels to form a part of the continuous surface and to cushion jolts as succeeding panels are moved from the upstream end of the conveyor and come into contact with the continuous line of panels passing beneath the flow head.
