  • Patent number: 5281669
Abstract: Intimate blends of macrocyclic oligomer compositions, such as cyclic polycarbonate or poly(alkylene dicarboxylate) oligomer mixtures, are blended with linear polymers, especially addition polymers. The blends flow easily and are frequently homogeneous. The macrocyclic oligomers therein may be polymerized to produce resin blends having advantageous properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 13, 1992
Date of Patent: January 25, 1994
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Roger P. Kambour, Warren L. Nachlis, Eric J. Pearce, Jeffrey D. Carbeck
  • Patent number: 5122556
Abstract: A polycarbonate-di(alkaryl) p-phenylene diphosphate plasticizer matrix has a tensile strength and elastic modulus higher than neat polycarbonate. By blending an impact modifier with the matrix, resin blends having a wide variety of impact and tensile properties are prepared. The matrix can be used for thin wall instrument housings which can be injection molded to close tolerance. The di(alkaryl) p-phenylene diphosphate has the formula ##STR1## wherein each Ak.sup.1 is independently hydrogen or a methyl radical and each Ak.sup.2 is independently a monovalent hydrocarbon radical having from one to four carbon atoms.

  • Patent number: 5100974
Abstract: Blends of aromatic polycarbonate, alkylnaphthalene-formaldehyde condensation product and an impact modifier produce easy-flow, tough, stiff thermoplastics. The thermoplastics can be used to injection mold thin-walled housings for electronic circuits.

    Assignee: General Electric Company
    Inventor: Roger P. Kambour
  • Patent number: 4745029
Abstract: Transparent blends of polymethyl methacrylate and BPA polycarbonate are provided resulting from solution casting and melt blending procedures. The blends are useful as glazing materials and for making optical disks and other injection moldable articles for which an easy flow polycarbonate is desirable.
