    Abstract: Immobilized microbial cells are prepared by treating microbial cells with a polyfunctional cross-linking reagent and contacting the treated cells in aqueous medium with a water insoluble particulate polymer prepared by polymerizing an ethylenically unsaturated monomer. Alternatively, the treated cells may be bonded to the monomer prior to polymerizing.
