  • Publication number: 20230134233
Abstract: Tissue repair devices include an advancement assembly comprising a rod portion configured to advance through a needle to expel first and second implants from the needle, a ratchet coupled to a proximal section of the rod portion and configured to advance the rod through the needle by axial and rotational movement, and an advancement member having a linear travel axis including a first bore connected to a second bore. A diameter of the first bore is smaller than a diameter of the second bore such that the first bore and the second bore comprise a stop. The rod portion has mechanical properties optimized to both conform to a needle curvature and provide sufficient compressive strength to expel implants from the devices.

  • Patent number: 10441306
Abstract: A surgical instrument includes a cutting member with an implement for cutting tissue, and a drive coupled to the cutting member to simultaneously rotate and translate the cutting member in response to a three applied to the drive. A method of cutting tissue includes positioning an outer member such that tissue is located within the outer member, engaging the tissue with an inner member, and simultaneously rotating and translating the inner member to cut the tissue. A tangential cutting force is applied to the tissue with the inner member to mechanically cut the tissue. The inner member is mechanically driven to undergo simultaneous rotation and translation.

  • Patent number: 7510563
Abstract: A surgical instrument includes a cutting member with an implement for cutting tissue, and a drive coupled to the cutting member. The drive may include a drive member having a helical groove and being attached to the cutting member. Furthermore, the drive may include an inner drive hub coupled to the drive member such that the drive member rotates with the inner drive hub while being free to translate relative to the inner drive hub. The drive simultaneously rotates and translates the cutting member in response to a force applied to the drive.

  • Patent number: 6695816
Abstract: A cannula includes a coupling interface adapted to receive and engage a wide variety of medical instruments having engaging portions which are different. In general, the cannula includes an elongated insertion member having a passage for receiving the medical instrument and a clamping assembly disposed at the proximal end of the elongated insertion member to engage the medical instrument. The clamping assembly includes a second surface axially spaced from the first surface of the elongated insertion member, and a biasing member positioned to bias at least one of the first surface and the second surface axially toward each other and to clamp an engaging portion of the medical instrument between the first and second surfaces.
