    Abstract: A packaged bait system for the control of insects, especially cockroaches and other orthopterous insects, comprising an insecticidal food bait composition housed in a bait block holder that allows for easy placement in locations where the probability of encounter by the target insect is high and that makes the bait readily accessible to the target insect. The toxic bait comprises corn distiller's grain, a humectant, an insecticide and a gel former to yield a deformable hydrophilic gel matrix subsequent to hydration.
