  • Patent number: 5469336
Abstract: A stack of closure plates with slots are slipped over a cable passing through an aperture in a wall of a radiation containment enclosure and affixed to the enclosure wall. The slots of the plates are staggered with alternate plates bearing on opposite side of the cable to secure the cable and impede leakage of radiation through the aperture and along the cable.

  • Patent number: 5078515
Abstract: A connector provides alignment between an electro-optic device and an optical fiber of a optical fiber cable. The connector employs a holding member for removably retaining the working end of the optical fiber and an electro-optic device aligned with each other for communication therebetween. The holding member has a cavity in one side wall in which the device is removably retained, and a channel, from an opposite side wall to the base of the cavity, in which the optical fiber is positioned. The channel is of varying diameter, and includes a cavity facing end having a diameter which is sufficient to accomodate the optical fiber but which is smaller than the outer diameter optical fiber cable. The cavity facing end of the channel ensures alignment of the optical fiber with the device retained in the cavity. A clamp member comprising spreadable prongs secures the optical fiber cable in position in the larger diameter region of the channel of the holding member.

  • Patent number: 4750898
Abstract: A clamp holds a sleeve over an installed connector preventing access to the connector for removal. The clamp is clamped to a cable with a screw having a head that breaks off after installation.

  • Patent number: 4746766
Abstract: A flexing connector for suppressing electromagnetic radiation from an electrical cable connecting moving and stationary elements of a machine has a shield surrounding a signal cable which includes an inner coil of wire wound in a generally helicoidal form with a flat cross-section with the signal cable positioned within the coil. An outer coil similar to the first, but with somewhat larger cross-section and wound with a different chirality, surrounds the inner coil. The coils are made from hardened steel, which is both electrically conductive and ferromagnetic. The two coils and the cable are clamped together on either side of a moving loop extending between the moving and stationary elements so that the coils cannot elongate and spread their windings apart as the connector is flexed.

  • Patent number: 4652161
Abstract: A paper feeder for use in dispensing paper into a printer with sensors for leading and trailing edges of paper and with a platen which rotates in a forward imprinting direction in response to a leading edge and in a backward, paper-ejecting direction in response to a trailing edge, the paper feeder comprising a paper holder, at least one rotatable drive roller to operably contact paper in the holder, and a drive train connecting the platen to the roller and controlled exclusively by such connection to cause no roller rotation in response to forward platen rotation, and to cause roller rotation in a paper-dispensing direction in response to backward platen rotation; the drive train is arranged so that the roller delivers paper to a paper-loading position on the printer not before the platen completes paper ejection; whereby backwards platen rotation provides simultaneous paper ejection and dispensing.

  • Patent number: 4362100
Abstract: An envelope feeder which can be mounted on a printer having a rotatable platen and a printing head for automatically feeding, printing and stacking envelopes is disclosed. It has a blank envelope feeding hopper from which blank envelopes are extracted one at a time and fed by a transporting roll and belt mechanism to the printer platen for printing. The position of the envelope is sensed when it reaches the printer platen and the transporting mechanism stopped for printing of the envelope by the printing head. After printing is completed, the transporting mechanism is reactivated to deliver the printed envelope to an envelope receiving hopper for stacking in sequence with other printed envelopes.

  • Patent number: 4279390
Abstract: A printer reel-over-reel ribbon cartridge having a supply reel located above a take-up reel on the same shaft has a driven stretched elastic endless belt engaging the outer surface of the ribbon on the take-up reel for moving the ribbon from the supply reel to the take-up reel.
