Based on the user device, a system can determine a prediction of intent to use the image forming device by a user account associated with the user device and in response to determining the prediction is greater than a threshold, instructing the image forming device to provide an indicator corresponding to the user account.

Abstract: According to examples, an apparatus may include a processor and a memory on which may be stored instructions that when executed by the processor, may cause the processor to access first identification information associated with the apparatus and send a portion of the first identification information to a server. A list of second identification information may be received from the server having portions that match the sent portion of the first identification information. In some examples, the processor may determine that the apparatus is authorized to communicate apparatus data of the apparatus to a services provider server based on a determination that the first identification information matches a second identification information among the received list of second identification information. Based on a determination that the apparatus is authorized to communicate the apparatus data, the processor may communicate the apparatus data over a network to the services provider server.

Abstract: A system and method are provided in a host and in a peripheral for providing network access to a web server in the peripheral device, where the peripheral device is locally coupled to the host. The web server in the peripheral includes web pages that provide access to the control functions of the peripheral. Users may access the control functions of the peripheral through the use of a browser, thereby avoiding the need for special control access software. In one embodiment, the system includes a processor coupled to a local interface and a memory coupled to the local interface. The system also includes listener logic stored on the memory and executable by the processor.

Abstract: System and methods for chaining the translation of data file formats by linking programs that convert datafiles between formats. A user submits a request to a controller program to convert a datafile from one format into another. The controller accesses a registry database to determine what translation programs (“translators”) are available, and designs a translation process linking the individual translators to perform the conversion. The translation job is controlled by job specification commands, preferably provided to each translator as a URL in HTTP protocol, that instruct each translator to access its data from the prior link in the translation chain. Format conversion occurs as the translators communicate directly with each other, passing the data down the chain. The process is especially suited for converting datafiles in unsupported formats into supported formats for printing.
