Patent number: 11880612Abstract: Generating personalized user interfaces includes receiving an indication of a user device in a proximity of an image forming device. Based on the user device, a system can determine a prediction of intent to use the image forming device by a user account associated with the user device and in response to determining the prediction is greater than a threshold, instructing the image forming device to provide an indicator corresponding to the user account.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2019Date of Patent: January 23, 2024Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Joseph Yang, Roger S. Publication number: 20220391149Abstract: According to examples, an apparatus may include a processor and a memory on which may be stored instructions that when executed by the processor, may cause the processor to access first identification information associated with the apparatus and send a portion of the first identification information to a server. A list of second identification information may be received from the server having portions that match the sent portion of the first identification information. In some examples, the processor may determine that the apparatus is authorized to communicate apparatus data of the apparatus to a services provider server based on a determination that the first identification information matches a second identification information among the received list of second identification information. Based on a determination that the apparatus is authorized to communicate the apparatus data, the processor may communicate the apparatus data over a network to the services provider server.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2019Publication date: December 8, 2022Inventors: Matthew Russell Tollestrup, Shell S. Simpson, Roger S. Twede

Patent number: 11477294Abstract: A method comprises receiving, at a server from a communications-enabled device that includes processing circuitry, a request for providing a user session correlated with a user identifier (ID) and a target appliance. The method further includes in response to the request for the requested user session: retrieving a user attribute from a user-ID database that stores user ID information for a plurality of user accounts, and retrieving an appliance attribute from an appliance-ID database that stores appliance ID information; and correlating the retrieved user attribute and appliance attribute with the requested user session for a user account from among the plurality of user accounts. The method further includes transferring the requested user session to the target appliance as a new user session that is spatial-temporal limited and that is without the target appliance using user login information.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2019Date of Patent: October 18, 2022Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Deny Joao Correa Azzolin, Laurent Pizot, Roger S. Publication number: 20210184854Abstract: The present subject matter relates to techniques for validating an electronic device using tokens. In an example, the technique may include generating a token based on a unique identifier of the electronic device, a device signature, and a time-stamp of the electronic device. The token is shared with a user device to establish a session. The token is rotated at a fixed time interval. Upon successful verification of the token, a command received from the user device is executed on the electronic device.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2018Publication date: June 17, 2021Inventors: Laurent Pizot, Roger S Twede

Patent number: 7408658Abstract: The generation and usage of workflows for processing data on a printing device includes receiving a request to create a workflow for a printing device. One or more operations that may be included in the workflow are displayed, and user-selection of at least one of the one or more operations is received. The user-selected operations are added to the workflow, and a user-selection of an order in which multiple ones of the user-selected operations are to be performed is received. When the creation of the workflow is completed, an indication of such is received and the workflow is saved. According to another aspect, a request to process data is received, the appropriate workflow identified, and the data processed by performing the operations in the sequence in an order identified by the sequence.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2001Date of Patent: August 5, 2008Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventor: Roger S. Patent number: 7076518Abstract: A system and method are provided in a host and in a peripheral for providing network access to a web server in the peripheral device, where the peripheral device is locally coupled to the host. The web server in the peripheral includes web pages that provide access to the control functions of the peripheral. Users may access the control functions of the peripheral through the use of a browser, thereby avoiding the need for special control access software. In one embodiment, the system includes a processor coupled to a local interface and a memory coupled to the local interface. The system also includes listener logic stored on the memory and executable by the processor.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2000Date of Patent: July 11, 2006Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Comapny, L.P.Inventor: Roger S. Publication number: 20040205619Abstract: System and methods for chaining the translation of data file formats by linking programs that convert datafiles between formats. A user submits a request to a controller program to convert a datafile from one format into another. The controller accesses a registry database to determine what translation programs (“translators”) are available, and designs a translation process linking the individual translators to perform the conversion. The translation job is controlled by job specification commands, preferably provided to each translator as a URL in HTTP protocol, that instruct each translator to access its data from the prior link in the translation chain. Format conversion occurs as the translators communicate directly with each other, passing the data down the chain. The process is especially suited for converting datafiles in unsupported formats into supported formats for printing.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 14, 2002Publication date: October 14, 2004Inventors: Roger S. Twede, John C. Cannon
