  • Publication number: 20060196168
Abstract: Controlling one or more component of a vehicle air supply system, such as an air compressor or an air dryer, based on an engine control signal. Examples of engine control signals include emission control signals, turbocharger status signals, coolant temperature signals, and ambient temperature signals.

  • Publication number: 20060127224
Abstract: Controlling air compressors based on a temperature of air compressed by the air compressor. A temperature of air compressed by the air compressor is sensed. The sensed compressed air temperature is compared with a predetermined threshold temperature. The air compressor is deactivated when the sensed temperature exceeds the threshold temperature. The threshold temperature may be selected to inhibit carbon formation caused by oil thermal breakdown.

  • Publication number: 20060105844
Abstract: In one embodiment, a system to compensate for misalignment between a drive shaft and a driven shaft includes a coupling device secured to the driven shaft, a bore in the drive shaft for receiving the coupling device, and a securing device to fasten the coupling device in the bore while permitting lateral movement of the coupling device within the bore to compensate for misalignment between the drive shaft and the driven shaft.

  • Patent number: 4380276
Abstract: An improved slack adjuster used for establishing the running clearance between brake shoes and a brake drum. A brake actuating cam is attached to a worm gear mounted in a slack adjuster housing. When the slack adjuster is rotated through greater than a predetermined increment which establishes the running clearance for the brakes, a worm is rotated to change the angular position between the worm gear and the slack adjuster housing.
