  • Patent number: 9220264
Abstract: The invention relates to multimeric forms of antimicrobial peptides, for example, defensin peptides. The multimeric forms of defensin peptides possesses antimicrobial activity and may be formulated into antimicrobial compositions, pharmaceutical compositions, eyedrop composition, contact lens solution compositions for coating medical devices and the like. The invention also relates to the use of these multimeric forms of peptides, e.g. multimeric forms of defensin peptides for inhibiting and/or reducing the growth of microorganisms in general, including in a host. The invention further relates to a method of preparing multimers of peptides derived from defensins, for example hBD3. The method includes a composition or combination comprising the multimeric antimicrobial peptides and at least one active pharmaceutical ingredient.

  • Publication number: 20100280147
Abstract: Ophthalmic devices are provided based on an interpenetrating (IPN) double network hydrogel of a first network physically entangled with a second network. The first network is an entangled network of self-linked hydrophilic telechelic macromonomers and hydrophobic moieties. The second network is a hydrophilic network of crosslinked polyacrylic acid. The IPN double network hydrogels including the hydrophobic moieties are characterized by being optically clear and having refractive indices above 1.34.

  • Patent number: 7359563
Abstract: The invention is a process to compare two digital images (and usually more) and to identify objects in each image. After object identification, object descriptors are formed. The object descriptors of the objects in one frame are compared to those of objects in the second frame, allowing the tracking of an object in the two frames. The movement of each tracked object within the two frames is quantified, and the second frame is corrected to account for the object's movement.
