  • Patent number: 6999423
Abstract: A method and system for optimizing a mobile radio network topology for an N node network where each node has K connecting links. A base network topology is established and a cost value is determined for the base network. It is determined if all possible local transformations on the base network topology have been performed and if not a local transformation is performed on the base network to form a transformed network. A cost is calculated for the transformed network and the cost is compared with the cost of a base network. The transformed network is established as the base network if the cost of the transformed network is less than the cost of the base network.

  • Patent number: 6842625
Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment of the invention a method for reliable data communications system in a communications system is provided. The method comprises determining a desired data rate and determining a power level required to transceive at the desired data rate. The method includes determining a channel selection function and determining the power necessary to transceive on the selected channel given the desired data rate and the associated power necessary for that data rate. The method also includes a channel monitoring function for monitoring data communications once communications has been established and a channel search method if communications has been degraded.

  • Patent number: 5258924
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting the presence of a target in an n-dimensional array of digital data samples comprises: 1) a reading module, which reads the samples from the data array in overlapping groups; 2) a quantizing module, coupled to the reading module, which quantizes each of the overlapping groups of data samples and which generates an index that identifies the quantized group; and 3) a comparing module, coupled to the quantizing module, which compares indexes from the quantizing module to multiple reference indexes, each of which represents a quantized group of data samples that identify a distinctive feature of the target.

  • Patent number: 5101445
Abstract: An image, of the type that is comprised of an array of pixels, is filtered by the steps of: (a) reading a respective group of pixels from the array for each individual pixel that is in the array, with each pixel group overlapping other pixel groups and consisting of pixels that are contiguous with the individual pixel; (b) quantizing each of the respective groups of pixels; (c) retrieving from a memory, a single pixel for each quantized group of pixels, with the single pixel being the result of a pre-performed transformation on the quantized group of pixels; and (d) concatenating the retrieved pixels to form the filter image.
