    Abstract: A fastening device such as a nut for a bolt that is passed through a tapered slot in one member so that it can be adjusted along the slot relative to another member before the bolt is tightened. The nut is double-tapered so that when it is drawn into the matching slot it wedges against the sides of the slot and positively locks the bolt against movement.
