  • Patent number: 7424831
Abstract: An apparatus, such as spring scale, including graduations for percentages of line test values (e.g., 25% and 33%) for a plurality fishing line tests for use with a fishing rod/reel in order to set the reel drag without the need to conduct any calculations. An electronically-operated scale for use with a fishing rod/reel that displays the line test value whenever percentages (e.g., 25% or 33%) of that line test value is reached during reel drag setting, thereby also avoiding the need to conduct any calculations.

  • Patent number: 5949333
Abstract: A compact operation sensitive reminder device that is readily attachable to almost any movable item and that emits an alert signal (e.g., audio, visible or tactile) when the item is initially changed from an non-operative condition to an operative condition and then remains silent during the item's operation, and emits the alert signal again only after a certain amount of time that the item has remained non-operative.

  • Patent number: 5881740
Abstract: A curler and a method of use for curling hair, e.g., the synthetic hair of a doll. The curler has an elongated rod, an elongated pressure applicator, and pivotable connector enabling the rod to be pivoted from an open position wherein it is located spaced from the pressure applicator to a closed position wherein it is located closely parallel to the pressure applicator. The rod is of very small diameter arranged to have a hank of the hair of the doll wrapped in a tight spiral about it. The pressure applicator is an elongated member having a hair engaging surface formed of a compressible resilient foam which, when the rod is in the closed position, applies pressure to the portion of the hank of hair disposed between it and said rod. This action causes the hair to take a curl without the necessity of the application of heat thereto. The curler also includes a catch member for releasable holding the rod in the closed position. The curler can be formed of plastic, metal or a combination of both.

  • Patent number: 5801629
Abstract: A compact motion sensitive reminder device that is readily attachable to almost any movable item that emits a visual indication when the item is initially moved from a stationary condition and then remains off during the item's use, and emits the visual indication again only after a certain amount of time that the movable item has remained stationary. Another embodiment of the compact motion sensitive reminder device is integrally formed with an item that is worn by the user, e.g., a roller blade, helmet, etc., and which provides a tactile indication to the person when the item is initially moved from a stationary condition and then remains off during the item's use, and emits the tactile indication again only after a certain amount of time that the movable item has remained stationary.

  • Patent number: 5421765
Abstract: Playsets having a toy element, such as a doll or stuffed animal, a combination dispenser, moisturizer and hairbrush handset and simulated tattoos. The simulated tattoos are nontoxic water-soluble adhesive-backed prints having decorative designs and/or legends simulating play markings or play tattoos adapted to be placed on either or both the toy element and/or the child, or transferred between them. The handset stores the simulated tattoo on a roll for dispensing, contains water storage, pump and atomizer to moisten the tattoos for application, transfer or removal, and a hairbrush for doll and child use.

  • Patent number: 5137281
Abstract: A word game playing piece having at least one gravity-stable playing position, at least one gravity-unstable playing position, and a holder that supports the playing piece in its gravity-unstable position. The playing piece is provided with word game indicia, concealed when the playing piece is in its gravity-stable playing position, and revealed when the playing piece is supported in its gravity-unstable playing position by the holder. The player piece is automatically self-righting from gravity-unstable to gravity-stable position to minimize the exposure of its indicia to view.

  • Patent number: 5122779
Abstract: A light sequencer for a toy having a simple way for individually varying the on and off times of each stage of a chain or ring. Each stage has a light controlling amplifier/switch whose gain is individually controlled by a hysteresis element. When the voltage across the hysteresis element is below its set breakdown voltage, it non-conducts, thereby causing the amplifier/switch to have negative gain, and the controlled light is not lit. When the voltage across a hysteresis element equals or exceeds its set breakdown voltage, it `fires` into a highly-conductive state, causing the amplifier/switch to have very high gain, and the controlled light is lit. The hysteresis element remains in its conductive state until the voltage across it drops below recovery voltage level. Then it switches back to non-conductive state, causing the amplifier/switch to have negative gain, and the controlled light is not lit. The difference between breakdown or `firing` voltage and recovery voltage is the hysteresis factor.

  • Patent number: 5069650
Abstract: A pop-out toy having a latch mechanism controlled by manual pressure applied to the pop-out element, whereby pressure applied to the pop-out element when in retracted position unlatches it for pop-out movement, and pressure applied to the pop-out element when it is in pop-out position causes it to move into latched retracted position. In both instances, manual pressure on the pop-out element controls its movement from one position to the other, and, in the case of the pop-out movement, it prevents the sudden jack-in-the-box actioin that frightens young children.
