  • Patent number: 5747967
Abstract: A method and apparatus for maximizing the electric power output of a photovoltaic array connected to a battery where the voltage across the photovoltaic array is adjusted through a range of voltages to find the voltage across the photovoltaic array that maximizes the electric power generated by the photovoltaic array and then is held constant for a period of time. After the period of time has elapsed, the electric voltage across the photovoltaic array is again adjusted through a range of voltages and the process is repeated. The electric energy and the electric power generated by the photovoltaic array is delivered to the battery which stores the electric energy and the electric power for later delivery to a load.

  • Patent number: 4666189
Abstract: The invention as shown herein demonstrates a prefabricated chimney which can be manufactured in sections of convenient length for handling and shipped to construction sites for venting boilers or the like. The chimney sections are of the multi-wall design whereby the inner tube conducts hot exhaust gases from a fuel-burning chamber to the outside. Tubes which are concentric or coaxial with the inner tubes insulate the building or other structural members from contacting the hot inner tube and insulating layer of air or otherwise retards the heat flow from the inner tube. The inner tubes of the sections are joined by a containment band which tightly engages the end flange of the inner tubes which may have rectangularly-shaped cross-sections.

  • Patent number: 4293371
Abstract: Magnetic film-substrate composites of enhanced quality are provided by rotating a garnet substrate immersed in a melt of magnetic film material to obtain a growth of magnetic film having uniaxial anistropy on the substrate normal to the substrate surface and maintaining the immersed substrate stationary in the melt after a desired film growth has been achieved to effect enhancement of the anisotropy constant of the film.

  • Patent number: 4195112
Abstract: A process for molding a coherent, pliable, thermally bonded, non-woven fabric comprising potentially adhesive fibers wherein the fabric is molded and new or stronger thermal bonds are developed within the fabric by the application of heat, whereby the cooled fabric retains its molded shape.
