Publication number: 20240139881Abstract: An engraving machine may have a housing, a receptacle, and a laser head located within the housing. The receptacle may receive an item to be engraved. The laser head may have a laser generator. The engraving machine may have a gripper head to retrieve the item from the receptacle and to position the item relative to the laser head. The engraving machine may have a controller. The controller may receive an inscription to be engraved on the item, determine a distance of the laser head from the item, and position the laser head at the determined distance. The controller may also cause the laser generator in the laser head to emit a laser beam for engraving the item. Further, the controller may cause the gripper head to dispense the item into a dispensing bin.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2023Publication date: May 2, 2024Applicant: THE HILLMAN GROUP, INC.Inventors: David WILKINSON, Roger PALMER

Publication number: 20200166414Abstract: The present invention relates to a Pt vs. RhPt thermocouple (such as a Type R or Type S thermocouple), and to the modification of the electrical properties of the same, while in service. More especially there is provided a method for reducing the drift of a Pt vs. RhPt thermocouple while the thermocouple is in use in an oxidising environment, wherein the Pt limb of the thermocouple is doped platinum comprising an effective amount of one or more dopants selected from the group consisting of yttrium, zirconium and samarium.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 7, 2017Publication date: May 28, 2020Inventor: Roger WILKINSON

Patent number: 6752134Abstract: An improved electronic ignition arrangement for an internal combustion engine having an output drive shaft, a rotary shaft drivingly coupled to the output drive shaft, a plurality of spark plugs, an ignition coil, and a rotor and distributor arrangement to effect sequential firing of the spark plugs, the rotor coupled to the rotary shaft for rotation therewith, the ignition system arrangement producing a software modifiable control signal routed to the ignition coil to effect optimal sequential firing conditions for the ignition col and spark plugs and thereby improving performance of the engine.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2001Date of Patent: June 22, 2004Assignee: Pertronix, Inc.Inventor: Roger Wilkinson

Patent number: 6609507Abstract: A supplementary ignition system in an internal combustion engine having an induction coil ignition systems of the type in which a first spark signal is generated to provide a single second spark signal a predetermined time after the start of the first spark signal. The invention supplements and does not alter or affect the first spark signal the first spark signal provided by the primary ignition system for the internal combustion engine. Augmentation with the second strike ignition system results in a longer duration and higher quality double strike spark at the spark plug of the engine during the compression stroke of the engine to provide more complete combustion of the fuel/air mixture in each cylinder of the engine. Being a supplemental ignition system, it can be removed at any time with immediate reversal back to the original equipment and its performance.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2001Date of Patent: August 26, 2003Assignee: Pertronix, Inc.Inventor: Roger Wilkinson

Patent number: 6050242Abstract: A lobe sensor arrangement for an internal combustion ignition system provides a control signal to an ignition coil of the internal combustion engine to effect sequential firing of spark plugs, the ignition system comprising a distributor camshaft having a plurality of alternate circumferentially spaced lobes and valleys. The lobe sensor arrangement includes a pair of sensors spaced from the rotating camshaft and sensing the proximity of the spaced lobes to provide a pair of sensor output signals, and a processor circuit for analyzing the two sensor output signals and generating an ignition control signal upon the occurrence of the sensor output signals having values meeting relative predetermined criteria. One criterion requires that the two output signals be equal in magnitude. Another criterion may require that both output signals have magnitudes above a predetermined threshold.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1998Date of Patent: April 18, 2000Assignee: Pertronix, Inc.Inventor: Roger Wilkinson
