  • Publication number: 20140332356
Abstract: The disclosed concept relates to a handle tie apparatus for connecting two or more operating handles of two or more electrical switching assemblies for simultaneous operation of the operating handles, such as switching from “on” position to “off” position. The handle tie apparatus including apertures formed therein for receiving the operating handles and slots having barbs configured therein for mechanically engaging and securing the operating handles in said handle tie apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8014168
Abstract: A wire form rail adapter for use in connecting an electrical component to a mounting rail includes a wire form spring clip that is formed to provide both a connection portion and a spring portion. The connection portion is configured to selectively engage the mounting rail and retain the rail against the rail adapter. The spring portion is configured to provide a biasing force that urges the wire form spring clip toward a position in which the connection portion engages the mounting rail.

  • Patent number: 6633211
Abstract: A circuit interrupter including a housing, separable main contacts disposed in the housing, and an operating mechanism disposed in the housing and interconnected with the contacts. A trip mechanism is disposed in the housing and has an automatic trip assembly that generates a tripping operation. The automatic trip assembly includes an armature and a magnetic yoke having pivot supports. The armature includes a head portion having a first hook-like member and an oppositely facing second hook-like member. The first hook-like member has a first recess, and the second hook-like member has a second recess. The automatic trip assembly includes a pivot pin positioned on the pivot supports and extending through the first recess and the second recess to provide a rotatable disposition of the armature. The assembly also includes a biasing member applying a force to the armature in a direction to normally rotationally displace a bottom portion of the armature away from the magnetic yoke.

  • Patent number: 6388216
Abstract: A terminal wire clamp is provided with a fastener and a connection plate, in which the connection plate has a connection surface that is formed with a retention channel, and in which the retention channel is structured to receive a wire therein and resist movement of the wire after the wire has electrically conductively engaged a conductor. The abstract shall not be used for interpreting the scope of the claims.

  • Patent number: 5898146
Abstract: A molded case circuit breaker has modular crossbar members which connect the contact arm carriers of a desired number of poles for opening and closing the separable contacts of all of the poles simultaneously by a single spring powered operating mechanism. The modular crossbar members comprise shaft sections which engage openings in the contact arm carriers of adjacent poles. Bearings support the shaft sections and mount the contact arm carriers for rotation about a common pivot axis. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the modular crossbar member is a single continuous metal shaft overmolded with an electrically insulative resin which also forms the bearing. Alternatively, separate metal shaft sections seat in sockets on either side of the molded bearing. In both instances, the shaft sections are keyed to the openings in the contact arm carriers for transmission of torque. In the exemplary crossbars, the shaft sections are hexagonal in cross-section.

  • Patent number: 5874699
Abstract: A molded case circuit breaker has a moving conductor assembly which includes a modular carrier assembly incorporating a plurality of spring biased contact cam members each of which engages contact pressure lobes on a pair of contact arm laminations to provide contact pressure. In response to the magnetic repulsion forces generated by a short circuit, the springs compress allowing the cam members to pivot and side step the contact pressure lobes so that the contact arm blows-open with little resistance. The cam members and springs are preassembled in a transverse channel in the carrier body and laterally retained in place by side plates for easier pivotal attachment of the contact arm laminations to the lobes on the side plates. The side plate lobes raise the contact arm relative to the mass of the carrier to reduce eddy current heating and provide a positive off indication for welded contacts by restricting movement of lower toggle links of the operating mechanism which are coplanar with the side plates.
