  • Publication number: 20220030308
Abstract: A method of streaming remotely located content, performed at a client device, comprises: communicating with a plurality of servers each of which hosts multiple copies of the content, said copies being encoded at different respective bitrates and each being divided into a plurality of segments that are arranged according to a time sequence; and requesting a concurrent download of a set of segments from a group of download servers that is at least a subset of the plurality of servers; wherein respective segments in the set are downloaded from different servers in the group of download servers, said segments being consecutive in the time sequence.

  • Patent number: 7584324
Abstract: Admission of a new disk stream is based on the probability of overcommitting disk bandwidth based on parameters related to the disk. These fixed parameters are determined either by retrieval from the disk or by investigating the disk. Probability functions of the disk parameters may be obtained. Exemplary disk parameters may be average disk seek time, probabilistic determination of the amount of data exchange during a single exchange, and probabilistic information about reading versus writing.

  • Publication number: 20060089857
Abstract: A computer program product for use with dictated medical patient information resides on a computer-readable medium and comprises computer-readable instructions for causing a computer to analyze the dictated information, identify likely confidential information in the dictated medical patient information, and treat the likely confidential information disparately from likely non-confidential information in the dictated medical patient information.

  • Publication number: 20040130296
Abstract: A method for determining the performance of a battery for providing a vehicle power supply system voltage for a vehicle power supply system in particular in a vehicle, is provided in order to identify the serviceability of a battery in as simple and reliable a manner as possible, in which method the vehicle power supply system voltage (U) is recorded, in which process the vehicle power supply system voltage (U) and the vehicle power supply system current (I) are monitored for an operating mode which can be predetermined within a time window (Z) which can be predetermined, such that the vehicle power supply system voltage (U) at the end of the time window (Z) exceeds a limit value (G) which can be predetermined, as a function of the vehicle power supply system current (I) which is emitted during that operating mode.

  • Patent number: 6039225
Abstract: An unused hanger indicator system. The unused hanger indicator system, comprises; a structural support point, a hanger suspended from the structural support point and adapted to receive an article, and a weight coupled to the hanger wherein the weight is coupled to the hanger at a point distant from a center of gravity of the hanger. The affect of the weight coupled to the hanger at a point distant from the center of gravity is to cause an end of a hanger so equipped with the weight to tilt the end of the hanger opposite from the weighted end up when the hanger is not constrained to remain level due to the mass of an article hung upon the hanger.
