  • Publication number: 20080154174
Abstract: A novel absorbent tampon suitable for insertion into a body cavity has a substantially elongate, compressed primary absorbent structure having a first end, a second end disposed opposite thereof, and a density of at least about 0.3 g/cm3. The tampon also includes a secondary absorbent structure secured to and extending from the first end of the primary absorbent structure and extending toward the second end of the primary absorbent structure. Preferably, the secondary absorbent structure is disposed about the primary absorbent structure and forms the outer circumferential surface of the tampon. The secondary absorbent structure is capable of extending outwardly from the primary absorbent structure upon the absorption of fluid into the tampon to increase the cross-sectional area of the tampon in the body cavity. In a preferred embodiment, the tampon has sufficient column strength for digital insertion (insertion without an applicator) into a vaginal canal.

  • Publication number: 20080132869
Abstract: The invention refers to a hygienic tampon (1), particularly for use in a woman's vaginal cavity, comprising an absorbent body (2) provided with at least one absorbent layer (3) and that defines a first inner surface (2?) and a second opposite outer surface (2?), the second outer surface (2?) being in contact with the wearer's body. The tampon (1) is shaped by applying substantially punctual force perpendicularly to said absorbent body (2) and comprises at least one string (4) positioned substantially on the inner surface (2?) of the absorbent body (2). The invention also describes a process for manufacturing said tampon (1).

  • Publication number: 20050096619
Abstract: A tampon comprised of a matrix is disclosed, wherein the matrix is provided with an inner surface and a structural layer adjacent to the inner surface, the structural layer being constituted of at least one thermoplastic element. An absorbent body, particularly used in the formation of a tampon, is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20040121106
Abstract: Portable disposable personal article containing a product for body care, comprising a substrate (S) of flexible material, which is water and oil insoluble and consists of a basic film (10) having a front face incorporating, in a single piece, a plurality of projecting tabs (11), which are mutually interconnected, in order to define substantially prismatic and anteriorly opened cavities (12), and a single amount of a product (P) for body care, which is deposited on the front face of the basic film (10), in order to fill at least partially a certain number of cavities, in which it is retained.

  • Patent number: 6616643
Abstract: The present invention relates to an individually folded and wrapped product, comprising and absorbent article and an enveloping sheet. The absorbent article is provided with side flaps and adhesive regions that aid in fixing it to a wearer's panties, keeping it in the correct position and avoiding the occurrence of leakage. The enveloping sheet totally encloses the absorbent article when the absorbent article is transversely folded over itself with the flaps in an open position.
