  • Patent number: 4610325
Abstract: A powered trailer for aiding a powered vehicle in moving a load trailer is selectively connected to the vehicle by a tongue assembly. A sensing device mounted on the tongue assembly senses the position and motion of the vehicle relative to the powered trailer. Trailer engine speed and brake control devices control the engine and brakes of the powered trailer dependent on signals from the sensing device so that the engine and brakes of the powered trailer operate in coordination with those on the vehicle. The sensing device has operating modes for detecting relative motion when the powered trailer is traveling either in forward or rearward directions, and can be placed in an unactivated state in either mode. The sensing device cannot be changed from one mode to another without the sensing device being in its unactivated state.

  • Patent number: 4475612
Abstract: A powered trailer for aiding a powered vehicle in moving a load trailer is selectively connected to the vehicle by a tongue assembly on a generally horizontal axis. The tongue assembly is pivotally mounted to the powered trailer in such a manner that all of the weight of the load trailer that is transmitted to the powered trailer and nearly all of the weight of the powered trailer itself is supported by the powered trailer and not transferred to the vehicle. When the tongue assembly is disengaged from the vehicle and not otherwise supported, brakes on the powered trailer are applied to restrict its movement.

  • Patent number: 4271104
Abstract: A method of hot rolling or extrusion of a textured-surface sheet can be used to produce a large one dimensional array of fibers; these arrays can be stacked to form the two dimensional matrix required for image transfer. Alternatively, a flat ribbon can be rolled or extruded and the fiber array formed from it by altering the refractive index of alternate strips using diffusion ion exchange or implantation methods.

  • Patent number: 4236824
Abstract: The optical surface figures of both optical surfaces of a forged halide optical element can be corrected and optimized using an interferometer to observe the lens surface while applying pressure via gas to produce permanent deformation of the lens.

  • Patent number: 4217318
Abstract: Fine-grained halide bodies are formed which have comparable optical properties to a single crystal halide body. The halide bodies are formed by press forging while an essentially constant fluid pressure is applied to the halide body.

  • Patent number: 4118448
Abstract: Fine-grained polygonized halide bodies are formed having comparable optical properties to a single crystal halide body. Heat and force are applied to the halide body to reduce the dimension of the body in one direction while the body is constrained in other directions.
