  • Publication number: 20230076738
Abstract: Techniques described herein may enable a user equipment (UE) to optimize radio access technology (RAT) and radio resources (e.g., bandwidth parts (BWPs)) when communicating with the network. This may be based on one or more factors or conditions, such as whether the UE is currently using 4th generation (4G) RAT or 5th generation (5G) RAT, whether the UE is in an active mode or idle mode, a BWP used by the UE, whether an application or network service requires a certain throughput, a type of application being used by the UE, an amount of network congestion, and so on. RAT optimization may also be based on whether the UE is using a frequency range 1 (FR1) or frequency range 2 (FR2), whether the UE is stationary or moving, whether the UE is experiencing beam failures, uplink (UL) switches, link quality measurements (LQMs), reference signal received power (RSRP) measurements, and so on.

  • Patent number: 11553561
Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for performing Wi-Fi authentication in a wireless communication system. Public key cryptography may be used to enhance the confidentiality of the user's permanent identity in transit. In some embodiments, a RSA-OAEP(SHA-256) encryption scheme may be used to protect the permanent identity when the EAP client needs to send the user's permanent identity to the server in the absence of pseudonym or fast re-authentication identity. In some embodiments, a server certificate is used to authenticate a iWLAN tunnel to protect an IMSI during setup of a Wi-Fi call. Using the methods described herein on both or either of the EAP client and server side may offer improved privacy protection.

  • Patent number: 11382017
Abstract: A device providing inter-device call continuity facilitated by a wireless audio output device may include a processor configured to initiate, over a peer-to-peer connection with a second device, a communication session between the second device and a third device. The processor may be further configured to establish, over the peer-to-peer connection with the second device, an audio link corresponding to the communication session. • Publication number: 20220141744
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for high data mode operation in cellular networks. A UE may determine, for an interface to a high-speed cellular network, a categorization from a plurality of categorizations, determine availability of the high-speed cellular network, and select, based at least in part on the categorization and availability of the high-speed cellular network, the interface for a data connection to the high-speed cellular network. The categorization may be one of expensive or not expensive and/or one of a first level associated with a higher compression codec rate or a second level associated with a lower compression codec rate. The UE may receive, from one of the a low-speed cellular network or the high-speed cellular network, carrier plan information for a cellular data service carrier and analyze the carrier plan information to determine desirability of a switch, e.g., from the low-speed cellular network to the high-speed cellular network.

  • Publication number: 20220109969
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for emergency communications (e.g., voice calls and/or SMS messages) for UE's without cellular coverage (e.g., in non-cellular coverage). A UE may establish, while out of range of cellular service, a peer-to-peer communication session with a relay UE using a channel in an unlicensed frequency band. The UE may transmit, using the peer-to-peer communication session, an emergency notification to the relay UE. The emergency notification may include an approximate location of the UE. Further the UE may communicate with a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), where the communications may be relayed between the UE and the PSAP by the relay UE. The approximate location of the UE may be based, at least in part, on a location of the relay UE and determining the approximate location of the UE may include performing a ranging procedure with the relay UE.

  • Publication number: 20220110187
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for emergency communications (e.g., voice calls and/or SMS messages) for UE's without cellular coverage (e.g., in non-cellular coverage). A function of a core network may receive, from a relay UE, a request to establish an SOS APN for a host UE, where the request may include at least an approximate location of the host UE, and where the host UE may be out of range of cellular service. The function of the core network may route, based, at least in part, on the approximate location of the host UE, traffic to a PSAP with a coverage area that includes the approximate location of the host UE using the established SOS APN. The approximate location of the host UE may be based, at least in part, on a location of the relay UE.

  • Patent number: 11297492
Abstract: Techniques to protect subscriber identity in messages communicated between a user equipment (UE) and a cellular wireless network entity by using multiple ephemeral asymmetric keys are disclosed. The UE determines multiple ephemeral UE public and secret key pairs, while the cellular wireless network entity provides a network public key to the UE. The network public key may be updated over time. Multiple encryption keys based on the multiple ephemeral UE secret keys and the public network key are derived and used to encrypt a subscription permanent identifier (SUPI) to generate multiple subscription concealed identifiers (SUCIs). Each SUCI is used only once for messages communicated to a cellular wireless network and discarded after use. New SUCI are generated when the network public key is updated.

  • Publication number: 20220104005
Abstract: This Application describes mechanisms for enterprise remote management of cellular services provided via access credentials, e.g., subscriber identity modules (SIMs) and/or electronic SIMS (eSIMs), for wireless devices. To minimize requirements for user interaction, installation and management of business-supplied cellular service profiles on the wireless device can intercept alert notifications to reduce interruptions and allow for background management of the business-supplied cellular service profiles. Additionally, a business enterprise can use multiple, distinct services to initiate installation of an eSIM to a wireless device. When two different services attempt to install eSIMs on the wireless device in parallel, management software on the wireless device can control an order of installation and disallow duplicate installations of an identical eSIM to the wireless device.
