  • Patent number: 11970692
Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments of a fixed magnet assembly that can be implemented into automated platforms for performing polynucleotide extraction from biological samples and preparing the polynucleotides into an amplification-ready form. The fixed magnet assembly can be used to provide magnetic energy to a container containing magnetic particles and a reaction mixture of polynucleotides, in order to bring about a separation of the magnetic particles from the reaction mixture. This can prevent or reduce magnetic particle carryover in the prepared amplification-ready sample, thereby improving amplification results.

  • Publication number: 20220212190
Abstract: The technology described herein generally relates to microfluidic cartridges. The technology more particularly relates to a compressible pad applied to a microfluidic cartridge, wherein the microfluidic cartridge is configured to amplify nucleotides of interest, particularly from several biological samples in parallel, within microfluidic channels in the cartridge and permit detection of those nucleotides. Compressible pads of the present technology can be implemented in microfluidic cartridges having enhanced reaction chamber volumes, resulting in improved thermal uniformity and amplification efficiency in the cartridge. Assays using microfluidic cartridges of the present technology advantageously exhibit improved limit of detection (LOD) and improved limit of quantification (LOQ).

  • Publication number: 20210299672
Abstract: An apparatus for holding sample tubes for sample preparation is provided. The apparatus includes a sample tube holder with an opening to accept a sample tube. The apparatus includes a hinge assembly with a hinge plate and a hinge support, wherein the hinge plate is movable relative to the hinge support. In one example, the hinge plate pivots in two rotation directions and slides in two translational directions relative to the hinge support. The hinge plate limits vertical movement of the sample tube within the sample tube holder. In one aspect, a method includes inserting a sample tube into an opening of a sample tube holder and pivoting and sliding a hinge plate relative to a hinge support, wherein the hinge plate limits vertical movement of the sample tube within the sample tube holder.

  • Publication number: 20180301218
Abstract: A decision support tool to assist decision-making in the field of temporary staffing for any type of short term specialist hiring where time and skill match are of the essence. The system includes networked, standalone, programmed devices that contain several integrated components. One component is a data storage subsystem that stores information about an employer and a candidate. A data entry subsystem component allows input of hiring requirements of the employer and of credentials of the candidate. A data analytics component compares the hiring requirements with the credentials and produces a match. A workflow management component manages a professional engagement resulting from the produced match. The data analytics component that produces the match and the workflow management component that manages the professional engagement are integrated in a networked computerized system.
