  • Patent number: 9100944
Abstract: The various aspects provide for wirelessly connecting mobile devices and wearable devices, which may enhance battery life and user experience. The embodiments may determine whether the mobile device is streaming audio data to a wirelessly connected peripheral audio device. Requests from the mobile device to wirelessly connect to the wearable device may be deferred while the mobile device is streaming audio data to the peripheral audio device using the same communication protocol as the wireless connection to be made between the mobile device and the wearable device. The mobile device may determine when streaming of audio data to the peripheral audio device has stopped. The mobile device may send a request to wirelessly connect to the wearable device when the mobile device is not streaming audio data to the peripheral audio device using the same communication protocol.

  • Patent number: 9088406
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices synchronize data streams by hashing received data frames to generate a sequence of hash values, comparing the generated hash value sequence to a hash value sequence received in a control stream, and processing data frames when the hash value sequences match. A source device and multiple receiver devices may synchronize audio data encoded in data frames, applying a hash function to each data frame to generate a first sequence of hash values, transmitting the data frames on a first channel and the first sequence of hash values on a control channel, receiving the data frames and the first sequence of hash values in the receiver devices, applying the hash algorithm to received data frames to generate a second sequence of hash values, comparing the first and second sequences of hash values, and processing data frames when the first and second sequences of hash values match.

  • Publication number: 20150113102
Abstract: Methods provide mechanisms for efficiently delivering files over a broadcast system to mobile devices. Files for broadcast may be logically identified as belonging to a directory in a file system. A Broadcast Schedule Message may inform receiver devices of files that will be broadcast at a specified time, as well as describe the files. File may be transmitted in file delivery pipes, which may be of different bandwidth and data rates. Receiver devices configured according to the embodiments may make use of the broadcast schedule message to select files to be received based on the service or application with which the file is associated, and whether the file is new or an update to a previously received file. Receiver devices activate receiver circuitry to capture the files within their advertised broadcast window, and pass the files to be broadcast to applications or services requesting the files.

  • Publication number: 20130316746
Abstract: Methods, devices, and systems for transmitting convenient messages to a recipient for rendering based on the recipient's device availabilities. A recipient's mobile device may be connected to a personal hub and/or earpiece devices configured to render various incoming communications, such as audio messages and visual messages. The incoming messages may be delivered to the recipient's mobile device and other connected devices that may render the contents of the incoming messages. A delivery confirmation message that describes the receipt and use of incoming messages may be generated and returned to a sender's computing device. In an embodiment, the recipient's devices may generate status information for describing the status of devices to a sender's computing device.

  • Publication number: 20130316679
Abstract: A system for receiving multiple conversations or messages and for playing the multiple conversations or messages with a mobile device and wireless earpieces. The system may determine various presentation parameters based on various characteristics of the received messages and may play the messages such that audio appears at distinguishing locations around the user. The system may change how messages and/or conversations are played in response to recognize a change in the focus of the user based on detected user inputs, such as body movement gestures.

  • Publication number: 20120207075
Abstract: Methods, systems and devices enable efficient delivery of UDP packets over broadcast systems to receiver devices. UDP packets may be bundled and embedded within files for transmission over a file delivery framework, to deliver UDP packets over a broadcast network. A broadcast schedule message (BSM) may inform receiver devices of files and UDP packets that will be broadcast at a specified time, as well as describe the files and UDP packets. Files may be transmitted in file delivery pipes, which may be of different bandwidth and data rates. Receiver devices configured according to the embodiments may make use of the BSM message to select the UDP packets to be received based on the service or application to which the UDP packets are associated. Receiver devices activate receiver circuitry to capture the files and the UDP packets contained therein and pass the received files to applications or services requesting the files.

  • Publication number: 20100125885
Abstract: Aspects include methods, systems, and apparatuses for periodically providing a content item by broadcasting segments of the content item. The method may include identifying a plurality of successive time segments of the content item, wherein each of the time segments is of substantially the same duration; assigning each of the plurality of time segments to one of a plurality of channels, wherein the number of channels is less than the number of time segments; assigning each of the time segments to a periodic time slot of its respective channel; and periodically broadcasting each of the time segments of the content item on the respective assigned channel and in the respective assigned time slot, whereby the content item is made available for uninterrupted playback subsequent to receipt by a receiver of a first portion of the content item.
