  • Patent number: 11449674
Abstract: One embodiment of the invention provides a method for utility-preserving text de-identification. The method comprises generating corresponding processed text for each text document by applying at least one natural language processor (NLP) annotator to the text document to recognize and tag privacy-sensitive personal information corresponding to an individual, and replacing some words in the text document with some replacement values. The method further comprises determining infrequent terms occurring across all processed texts, filtering out the infrequent terms from the processed texts, and selectively reinstating to the processed texts at least one of the infrequent terms that is innocuous.

  • Patent number: 11448598
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems provide improved identification of selected biohazard and/or biohazard signatures from complex in vivo or in vitro samples and include deep UV native fluorescence spectroscopic analysis for multiple locations of a sample wherein classification results for individual locations are combined and spatially correlated to provide a positive or negative conclusion of biohazard signature presence (e.g., for signatures for viruses, bacteria, and diseases including SARS-CoV-2 and its variants and COVID-19 and its variants). Improvements include one or more of reduced sample processing time (minutes to fractions of a minute), reduced sampling cost (dollars to fractions of a dollar), high conclusion reliability (rivaling real time RT-PCR). Some embodiments may incorporate a stage or scanning mirror system to provide movement of a sample relative to an excitation exposure location. Some embodiments may incorporate Raman or phosphorescence spectroscopic analysis as well as imaging systems.

  • Publication number: 20220291341
Abstract: A characterization circuit for an optical device includes: an optical device, a switch, a switch driver, one or more resistors, and one or more capacitors. The switch driver is configured to receive a trigger pulse from an external pulse generator and to provide the trigger pulse to the switch, which causes the switch to be in an on state. The one or more capacitors are configured to, when the switch is in an off state, receive a charge current (e.g., with a greater than 50 nanoseconds rise time) from an external driver voltage source via the one or more resistors; and, when the switch is in the on state, discharge a current pulse (e.g., with a less than 10 nanosecond pulse width) to the optical device. The optical device is configured to receive the current pulse and to emit, based on the current pulse, an optical output pulse.

  • Patent number: 11443006
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for managing saved web pages on a user device. In an example, when a user bookmarks a web page at the user device, the user device can send the bookmark to a server. A service on the server can gather information about web page and associate a plurality of tags with the web page based on that information. The service can compare the web page's tags to tags of other previously bookmarked web pages to identify a possible matching web page. The service can perform a semantic similarity analysis between the two web pages to determine whether their similarity exceeds a threshold. Where the similarity does exceed the threshold, the service can notify the user device. The user device can notify the user and present options for the new bookmarked web page.

  • Patent number: 11445286
Abstract: A system and method to manage handover between wireless audio devices (such as earbuds) of primary responsibility for communicating with a third device such as a phone or tablet. A first wireless audio output device manages communications between a third device and a second wireless audio output device. The wireless audio output devices determine the signal quality of the connection between them. If that signal quality drops below a threshold, the wireless audio output devices determine the rate of change of that signal quality. If that quality is dropping rapidly, the wireless audio output devices check to see which has the better connection to the third device. If the second wireless audio output device has a better connection to the third device than that of the first wireless audio output device, then the wireless audio output devices can trigger a handover from the first wireless audio output device to the second wireless audio output device.

  • Patent number: 11444686
Abstract: Various arrangements for performing transmodulation of a forward feeder link are presented. A first data stream and a second data stream can be modulated into a higher-order modulation forward feeder link having a higher-order digital modulation scheme. A satellite can receive the higher-order modulation forward feeder link. The satellite can demodulate the higher-order modulator forward feeder link into a bit stream. This bit stream may then be remodulated and retransmitted as multiple forward user links.

  • Publication number: 20220287166
Abstract: A system and methods are provided for an immersive group lighting interaction. A lighting infrastructure includes a plurality of independently controllable lighting devices. According to an embodiment, users may be granted access to control at least a portion of the lighting infrastructure. Rather than requiring the user to manually control the lighting infrastructure using, for example, the touch screen, a sensor associated with the user's mobile device may track the user. The sensor data may be classified and then mapped to a corresponding control instruction to control the lighting infrastructure. In another embodiment, a computing system receives sensor classifications from multiple users. If a threshold amount of a type of classification is received, the computing system controls a lighting infrastructure according to that type of classification.
