  • Patent number: 6066407
Abstract: Long life wear parts are cast with mounting structures at proximal ends and relatively thin carbide layers at distal ends. The distal end carbide layers are filled with cast carbide material and distal faces of the cast steel wear parts are covered with the thin carbide layer. Hardness of the wear parts increases toward the distal end. The proximal end is left unhardened to provide strength and resist breaking, and resist wearing of the base and fasteners which mount the wear parts. In one form portions of distal ends of molds are lined with sintered tungsten-carbide steel wear surfaces before parts are cast.

  • Patent number: 5655719
Abstract: A portable recycle crusher system has a hopper with inward and downward sloping sides, and fold-out hopper extensions. A belt feeder beneath the hopper slides on a slide deck made of a low friction, wear-resistant plastic bolted to a steel plate to prevent tearing of the belt when sharp pointed objects are dumped into the hopper. Stopping and starting and speed of the belt are controlled by remote radio control. Materials fall off the end of the belt feeder onto vibrating screen, which allows fine materials to bypass a crusher. The materials then enter a large rectangular opening of the crusher, and approach rotating hammers at a proper angle and speed. The hammers strike and break the materials and throw them against abrasion-resistant plates. The broken materials fall between the spinning hammers and through sizing screen steel grates, which provide positive product size control.

Stopping and starting and speed of the belt are controlled by remote radio control. Materials fall off the end of the belt feeder onto a scalper, which allows fine materials to bypass a crusher. The materials fall onto a discharge conveyor, which carries the materials away from the recycle crusher and scalper.

  • Patent number: 4597538
Abstract: A comminuting apparatus which includes a housing containing a drum rotatable about a horizontal axis, a first crushing and screening grate pivotally suspended in the housing, and having a lower end adjustably movable toward the drum to form with the drum a selectively widenable throat, and a second arcuate fine grinding and screening grate pivotally mounted in the housing, and forming with the drum an adjustably dimensioned constricting throat. The drum carries at its outer periphery, a plurality of circumferentially spaced, axially extending rows of detachably mounted hammer elements. Each hammer element in each of the axial rows is received in an undercut, trapezoidally-shaped slot in an elongated hammer retainer bar. Each of the hammer bars is retained in its respective undercut slot by a plurality of wedge blocks.
