Abstract: 3,3-Dialkyl- or 3,3-alkylene-indolines which are unsubstituted at the 1- and 2-positions and which are substituted at the 4- or 6-position by an optionally etherified hydroxy group or substituted at the 5- or 7-position by an etherified hydroxy group, as well as their physiologically-hydrolyzable and -acceptable esters. The said indolines and esters as well as their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts possess analgesic activity.

Abstract: The present invention provides compounds of formula I, ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen; alkyl of 1 to 5 carbon atoms; cycloalkyl of 5 to 7 carbon atoms; alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms mono-substituted by cycloalkyl of 3 to 7 carbon atoms; phenylalkyl of 7 to 11 carbon atoms in the aggregate thereof, wherein the phenyl ring is unsubstituted or mono-substituted by halogen of atomic number from 9 to 35, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms; or alkoxy of 1 to 4 carbon atoms; alkenyl of 3 to 5 carbon atoms, wherein the multiple bond is other than in the .alpha.,.beta. position; or 2-hydroxyethyl, andR.sub.2 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms,having GABA-like activity.

Abstract: The present invention concerns novel hydro-4-phenyl-benz[f]isoindoline derivatives, of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or substituted or unsubstituted alkyl,R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are hydrogen, halogen or alkyl, and eitherX and Y are hydrogen, orX and Y together are an additional bond,Useful as analgesics and antidepressants.
