  • Publication number: 20080097389
Abstract: A-type blood transfusion set having a blood limb, a saline limp and common limb and a one-way saline valve provided in the saline limb which only allows fluid within the saline limb to flow toward the Y connector. The blood limb and saline limb are color coded or marked with some type of identification so that, prior to coupling the blood limb to a source of blood or the saline limb to a source of saline, visual identification of the saline limb, having the one-way saline valve therein, can be readily achieved.

  • Patent number: 6174301
Abstract: A dual use needle cap having a before use portion and an after use portion. The before use portion including an outer surface and an interior surface defining a chamber sized to enclose a needle of a syringe. The after use portion includes a clamp and a hood attached to the outer surface of the before use portion at opposite ends thereof. The clamp is configured to fit on to at least one of a barrel of a syringe or a needle assembly connected to the syringe and the hood is configured to cover a tip of the needle.

  • Patent number: 5916201
Abstract: An anti-cross contamination valve for use in medical fluid delivery systems comprises a valve housing having a first port, a second port, and a third port that open into a hollow interior. A valve body is rotatably mounted within the hollow interior and has at least one fluid passageway therethrough. A knob is attached to the valve body and extends outside of the valve housing. The at least one passageway includes a first fluid passageway that opens the first port to the third port when the valve body is rotated to a first position with respect to the valve housing. The second port is closed when the valve is in its first position. The at least one passageway also includes a second fluid passageway that opens the second port to the third port when the valve body is rotated to a second position with respect to the valve housing. The first port is closed when the valve is in its second position.

  • Patent number: 5667496
Abstract: A syringe includes a barrel, a plunger, a needle assembly and a dual use needle cap. The plunger is mounted to move within the barrel in a typical manner, and the needle assembly is typical in that it includes a generally cylindrical base with a needle attached to a protruding away therefrom. The dual use needle cap includes a before use portion integrated with, but separate from, an after use portion. The before use portion has an outer surface and an interior surface defining a sterile chamber sized to enclosed the needle. The after use portion includes a living clamp and a hood attached to the outer surface adjacent opposite ends of the dual use needle cap. The living clamp is sized to snap fit onto one of either the neck of the syringe barrel or the base of the needle assembly. The hood is sized to cover the tip of the needle.

  • Patent number: 4796946
Abstract: An improved strengthening or reinforcing member is provided, particularly an automotive vehicle door bar or beam. The bar comprises an air cooled, hot rolled section of high strength alloy steel having a minimum tensile strength of about 150,000 lb/in.sup.2 and a total elongation of at least about 7.5%. In a preferred embodiment the steel comprises about 0.16 to 0.21% carbon, about 1.8 to 2.1% manganese; about 1.2 to 1.4% chromium; about 0.7 to 0.9% silicon; and the balance essentially iron. A clip element may be mounted on the bar to retard or prevent spreading of the flange portions of the section during bending. By securing or fixing the clip element to the section, a substantial improvement in load carrying capability is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4601174
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the home freezing of water in relatively large blocks for subsequent use in insulated portable ice chests for maintaining the contents cool over a period of days is disclosed and includes a plurality of support racks of truncated pyramidal configuration having open rectangular tops and bottoms and trapezoidal side walls of an open mesh configuration along with a like plurality of relatively flat floor panels each having a groove for receiving an upper edge of a subadjacent rack and a groove for receiving an edge of a superior rack so that a plurality of flexible open-topped containers may be stacked in a column in a freezer on successive floor panels with each floor panel supported by a corresponding rack to allow free air circulation around the containers to faciliate cooling as well as supporting and storing the water and the subsequent blocks of ice.
