  • Patent number: 6251412
Abstract: A composition, in particular a cosmetic composition, which can especially be in the form of an emulsion, a gel or a vesicle dispersion, the said composition comprising a pulverulent phase in an amount of less than or equal to 80% by weight relative to the total weight of the composition, this composition comprising at least one pigment and at least one antiperspirant. Use of such a composition in cosmetics, in particular for make-up, in order to improve the staying power of the color of the composition.

  • Patent number: 6001367
Abstract: The present invention relates to an anti-wrinkle composition containing a dispersion of a polymer system comprising at least one polymer of natural origin, and to the use of this polymer system as a tensioning agent in a cosmetic or dermatological composition. In particular, a soybean protein commercial product Profam 972.The polymer used must characteristically have a molecular weight of greater than 670,000 daltons and the polymer system obtained must be capable of forming a steam-permeable film, it must have a Young's modulus ranging from 10.sup.8 to 9.times.10.sup.9 N/m.sup.2 and it must produce, at a concentration of 7%, a greater than 1.5% retraction of isolated stratum corneum at 30.degree. C. and at a relative humidity of 40%.The composition obtained is used in particular for the immediate treatment of wrinkles and fine lines on the skin.

  • Patent number: 5198875
Abstract: A device for measuring the brightness of a surface includes a light source to send an incident beam onto the surface and a polarizer and two analyzers one for analyzing the reflected light and the other for analyzing the diffuse reflection from the surface at a selected point of incidence; light-sensitive photodetector means are provided to receive light from the analyzers; the incident light impinges on the surface under examination at an angle of between 0.degree. and 90.degree. with the incident beam polarization being perpendicular to the plane of incidence; the analyzers are located to differentiate between parallel and perpendicular polarization to provide differences in the assessment of specular and diffuse brightness.

  • Patent number: 5090402
Abstract: An appliance for manual use for massaging a cutaneous covering, comprising, on the one hand, a reservoir (1) containing the product to be applied, and integral with a gripping element (2), the reservoir comprising a movable wall (4), so as to adapt its internal volume (9) to the quantity of product contained and, on the other hand, an applicator element (3) constituted by a sole (6) cooperating with the reservoir (1) and comprising at least one ball (7) held in a housing (8), which communicates with the internal volume of the reservoir (1) through at least one opening. The appliance also comprises a direct current source (12), which is situated in the said gripping element (2) and whose poles are each connected to one electrode, the first electrode (13) being a conductive covering which covers the wall of the gripping element (2) and the second electrode (14) being constituted by a conductive film which is in permanent contact with the product situated in the reservoir (1).

  • Patent number: 5001436
Abstract: The device comprises: a high frequency alternating voltage generator the output of which is connected to a sensor probe 5 which is to be applied to a substrate to be measured, an amplifier the input of which is connected to the sensor probe, and a detector arranged to furnish a D.C. voltage signal based on the output from amplifier. The generator, the amplifier and the detector are located inside a metal envelope enclosure. An electromagnetic radiation shield is disposed inside the envelope to separate the amplifier and the detector from the high frequency generator. In operation, voltage output from the detector is indicative of the electrical impedance of the substrate as sensed at the probe. In the preferred application, the substrate is skin and the measured electrical impedance is indicative of the water content of the skin.

  • Patent number: 4758730
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for examining a sample whose surface comprises reliefs, and an apparatus for carrying out the method. The apparatus comprises a sample carrier plate subjected to illumination from at least two sources having different wavelengths and whose illumination axes form an acute angle of incidence on the sample carrier plate, the illumination axes of the sources being all different, and an observation system for the sample carried by the plate. The method may be used for measuring the effectiveness of a cosmetic treatment product on a skin.
