  • Publication number: 20080176059
Abstract: The invention relates to a composite material constituted by a microporous or mesoporous matrix and nanoparticles of metal or of metal oxide. The material being wherein the material of the matrix is either disordered, or ordered and optionally oriented, and wherein the nanoparticles are i) monodisperse in size when said matrix material is ordered and optionally oriented; ii) either monodisperse in size or of size identical to the size of the pores of the matrix material when said matrix material is disordered. The method of preparing the material consists in impregnating a microporous or mesoporous solid material with a solution of nanoparticle precursors, then in reducing the precursors within said material forming the matrix. Impregnation is performed under saturated vapor pressure and under reflux of the precursor solution, and reduction is performed radiolytically.

  • Patent number: 4110856
Abstract: The invention is a new hospital bed having a lower frame or dolly, an upper frame or mattress support, and a middle frame comprising two longitudinal beams, a head end, a foot end and a central section. The head end is formed by a single "U" shaped tube which joins the beams, holds a head board, supports the side rails, and provides recesses for IV tube support rods; the foot end is formed by a single channel having similar and additional functions as the head end; and the central section of the middle frame includes a pair of wing-like plates which form a part of and provide the principal support for the upper frame. The total number of components of the bed is substantially reduced by the design of these components to serve multiple functions, which conserves material, reduces expense, and allows for easier repair and adjustment.

  • Patent number: 4043528
Abstract: A support rod is maintained in position by two load-bearing leaf springs disposed at each end of the rod. The leaf spring members are partially U-shaped in cross-section and the rod is maintained with a loop formed by the U and a back plate. This loop is under a predetermined tautness, the strength of which is created by presetting the tension of a coil spring on the upper flat portion of the load-bearing leaf spring member from which the U-shaped section extends. When an overload is placed upon the support rod, the weight causes the rod to move the U-shaped section of the leaf spring outwardly which thereupon releases the rod from its engagement within the U-shaped loop. As a consequence, the rod will fall with the weight thereon under the force of gravity.
