  • Patent number: 8801337
Abstract: A method for attaching a plate to an interior of an underground excavation, the method comprising: placing a first surface of the plate adjacent to the interior of the excavation, the plate having at least one through a passageway disposed within the plate; forming a mounting hole within the excavation in alignment with the passageway; inserting a bolt from a second surface of the plate opposite the first surface through the passageway and into the mounting hole; the bolt having a dome portion being integrally attached to a washer portion, such that the dome portion extends in a convex manner away from the first side of the washer portion; and a driver connected to the dome portion; driving the bolt into through the passageway and the mounting hole by means of the driver; and securing the bolt to the mounting hole disposed within the excavation via an anchorage device, adhesive or grout.

  • Patent number: 7780377
Abstract: A roof stabilizer for use in securing surfaces in tunneling and mining is disclosed and claimed. The stabilizer has a tube with a slot and a ring attached to the bottom end of the tube. The ring can have indicia on a bottom surface of the ring or a side surface of the ring or both. The location of the indicia can provide better indication of the properties of the stabilizer to the installer. The indicia is easier to read than that of the background art both before and after installation. The location of the indicia can also provide easer and quicker visual inspection of already installed stabilizers to verify that the proper roof stabilizers were installed. The location of the indicia lessens the likelihood that corrosion will remove the indicia making it unidentifiable. The stabilizer disclosed and claimed also allows the use of grout or an adhesive in the interior of the tube which does not cover up or conceal the indicia on the ring as opposed to indicia in the background art stabilizers.

  • Patent number: 7712838
Abstract: An improved ground support member insertion device comprising means for attaching the device to a jackleg drill, a clutch assembly disposed adjacent to the attaching means and adapted for holding a ground support member while it is being inserted into a first drill hole; and, anchoring means disposed opposite the clutch assembly and adapted for temporarily anchoring the device for stabilization in a rock formation during insertion of the ground support member. An impact tool for engaging the proximate end of the ground support member providing rotation and impact to the ground support member to mix the resin and to secure the ground support member in a rock formation. The impact tool can also be used to manually or mechanically tension the ground support member once installed.

  • Publication number: 20090180840
Abstract: A new bolt head design is disclosed and claimed. The bolt head has a radius between the shaft and the first side of a washer which spreads the shaft load more evenly to the washer. A concave dome is located between the second side of the washer and the driver of the head. These elements more evenly distribute the load, increase the bolt head strength and help prevent the washer, shaft and washer driver interfaces from failing when the bolt is loaded either in a linear or non-linear fashion.
