  • Patent number: 10668790
Abstract: An interlayer comprising a first polymer layer, a polarization rotary optical film and optionally a second polymer layer, and multiple layer panels formed from such interlayers. The panels may exhibit desirable optical properties, including, for example, less image “ghosting,” when used as part of a heads-up-display (HUD) display panel for use in automotive and aircraft applications.

Date of Patent: June 2, 2020
    Assignee: Solutia Inc.
Inventors: Wenjie Chen, Peter Borden Mackenzie, Scott Evan Pickett, Kimberley Carmenia Carico, Roland Claus Thielsch

  • Publication number: 20150274584
Abstract: The invention relates to an laminated glass for use in vehicles or in architecture, having a selective reflection of electromagnetic radiation from the wavelength spectrum of sunlight. According to the invention, an optical multi-layer system having a total solar transmission of TTS<40%, a transmission Tvis in the wavelength range of visible light >70% and a reflection Rvis in the wavelength range of visible light <12% is present on said laminated glass. For reflection upon vertical light incidence, it has a reflection colour according to ASTM 308 (illumination source D65 and standard observer 10°) within a colour space that is limited by the values Ra* from ?5 to 5 and Rb* from ?25 to ?40. Alone or in addition, the laminated glass has a reflection colour according to ASTM 308 for transmission and reflection upon verticle light incidence within a colour space (colour box) that is limited by the values Ra* from ?5 to 5 and Rb* from ?25 to ?40.

  • Publication number: 20140233093
Abstract: The invention relates to multilayer systems for selective reflection of electromagnetic radiation from the wavelength spectrum of sunlight, and to a method for producing said systems on suitable, preferably polymeric, carrier materials. Such a multilayer system of the invention is formed with at least one layer composed of silver or silver alloy, which is coated over the whole area on both surfaces with in each case a seed layer and a cap layer. In this case, the seed layer and cap layer are formed from dielectric material. These are ZnO and/or ZnO:X. In this case, at least one such multilayer system is formed on a flexible polymeric substrate, preferable a film which is optically transparent in the visible spectral range.
