    Abstract: A seal for a reciprocating rod, comprised of a sealing ring of elastomeric material, which is provided at its end facing away from the space to be sealed off with a recess that opens towards the rod and in the direction of the end, into which a guide ring is inserted. At a distance from the end, the guide ring is provided with one radially outwardly pointing projection which is snapped into the sealing ring. The sealing ring is undetachably secured to the guide ring during storage and assembly.
