  • Patent number: 5273305
Abstract: A ski and ski-binding combination. The ski has several holes for receiving therein fastening screws for the selective fastening of ski-binding elements arranged in the ski in the binding-installation area. The holes are covered, however, are marked to the outside by markings. The arrangement of holes for the ski-binding elements is adjusted to the length of the ski and chosen such that the ski bindings are suited to receive only a limited number of successive ski-boot sizes.

  • Patent number: 5207447
Abstract: A ski binding which includes a front jaw and a heel holder and a connecting element connected to and extending between the front jaw and the heel holder. In order to reduce the space needed for packaging the above type of ski binding, the invention provides that the connecting element is composed of first and second parts. The first part has a plastic coating having a recess therein extending in longitudinal direction of the connecting element. The first part also has two bolts with enlarged heads thereon, said bolts being received in keyhole-like recesses provided in the second part associated with the heel holder.

  • Ski
    Patent number: 5197752
Abstract: A ski (1) which consists of a core (2), at least one upper surface layer and one lower surface layer. Recesses (6) are provided in the binding area, in which recesses containers (8) are fixed. Inserts to anchor fastening screws are inserted into the containers. Each insert consists of a layer of an elastomer material and of a layer of a fixed material, for example metal or glassfiber-reinforced plastic. In order to avoid in this ski (1) a drilling through the layer (10) of elastomer material and in order to also be able to stress this layer (10) with respect to tension and compression, the invention provides that this layer (10) is below the layer (9) of solid material and is fixedly connected both to the bottom wall (8a) of the container (8) and also to the layer (9) of solid material.

  • Patent number: 5156415
Abstract: A device for the longitudinal adjustment of heel holders which includes a guide rail provided with a row of holes, on which guide rail is guided a guide plate carrying the heel holder. Two coil springs are housed in a spring cage and are supported in a recess of the guide plate, of which coil springs at least one coil spring loads the spring cage in direction of a locking member provided with at least one projection. In order to prevent, upon the penetration of snow or dirt into the open areas of the guide plate, the locking member from loosening up and possibly becoming disengaged, the invention provides that the rear crosswall of the spring cage has a bore in the region of the other coil spring, the diameter of which bore is greater than the diameter of the other coil spring so that the latter continuously bears against the locking member.

  • Patent number: 5106115
Abstract: A sole-support device for ski bindings which includes a support member fastenable on a ski and an endless band guided transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the ski in a groove of the support member. In order to prevent in this device a relative movement between the upper strand of the band and the underside of the sole of the boot, the invention provides that the band, which is supported with its upper strand in the groove of the support member, has the shape of the jacket of a frustrum, and that the groove, in which the upper strand of the band is guided, has a circular extent arched toward the tip of the ski, viewed in a top view.

  • Patent number: 5102158
Abstract: A safety ski binding includes a binding member guided in the longitudinal direction of a ski on a guide rail and releasably fixable in different positions therealong by an adjusting arrangement, the binding member being under the influence of at least one pressing spring which acts in the longitudinal direction of the ski and which facilitates compensation for play existing between the binding member and the guide rail. The pressing spring is arranged in a spring cage which has a crosswall and a bottom. To provide a constant pressure, the spring cage is provided with at least two downwardly convex leaf springs, or with at least two longitudinal ribs which extend along the two sides of the bottom and are downwardly convex and resilient in a section of their longitudinal length.

  • Patent number: 5094471
Abstract: A heel holder including a base plate on which is arranged a bearing block which can be pivoted laterally. A swivel head is supported in the bearing block on a transverse axle. Between the base plate and the bearing block there is provided a return spring. A locking mechanism is provided in addition, which locking mechanism holds the bearing block in its centered position. In order to hold the bearing block in the heel holder with pressure, the invention provides that the base plate carries a rectangular projection on its upper side, with which projection is associated a recess in the base of the bearing block, and that above the projection there is arranged the locking mechanism which acts through a frictional connection.

  • Patent number: 5076604
Abstract: An apparatus for facilitating a mounting of ski bindings onto skis. The apparatus includes a plate and a jaw member fastened to the plate. The plate is releasably fastened by fastening elements to the upper side of a ski. Two or more receiving parts are provided for receiving the ends of the fastening elements, which ends are on a side of the plate which is remote from the ski binding, the receiving parts being built into the body of the ski. Each receiving part includes an elliptic slotted hole or an elongated T-shaped recess, each being provided with at least one undercut step. Each fastening element is arranged on the jaw member or the plate and has a locking member at an end region thereof remote from the jaw member or the plate. The locking member has a larger dimension in one direction compared with the recess or the slotted hole of the individual receiving parts, and engages the undercut step.

  • Patent number: 5069473
Abstract: A ski brake including two wire-braking arms supported in bearing points on a ski, which wire-braking arms are, if necessary, combined to one wire bar. The ski brake can be swung from a braking position into a ready position, in which the ski brake is stepped down upon by a ski boot and is held down with the help of an operating pedal arranged pivotally about a transversely extending axle, with the free ends of the wire-braking arms being held lying above the plane of the upper side of the ski. The bearing points of the wire-braking arms are arranged on the upper side of the ski. At least one further bearing point for the operating pedal is constructed on or in a spring board spaced above the upper side of the ski and movable relative to the ski.

  • Patent number: 5042830
Abstract: A sole-support plate for ski bindings which can be mounted on a base plate of a ski-binding part. The base plate is held onto the upper side of a ski by means of fastening screws, and is held against a lifting off in its mounted state and is also secured against a movement relative to the ski by means of a locking system. A block is formed by the fastening screw and engages a detent formed in a recess in the sole-support plate to prevent the aforesaid relative movement.

  • Patent number: 4872272
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for detachably fastening a ski boot to a ski binding fixable on the ski, the ski boot comprising a hook element extending in its longitudinal direction. In manner known per se the hook element consists of a wire material which is bent several times and of which the cross rod is located at a distance from the front ski boot end, and where legs joining the cross rod are anchored by bent, free wire segments in the front end of the ski boot sole. In the invention, the free wire segments (6,7) of each leg (4,5) of the hook element (2) are additionally bent by an angle (alpha) toward the cross rod (3), whereby improved anchoring of the hook element (2) and improved force spreading between the hook element and the ski boot (1) is achieved. In further essence of the invention, the individual legs (4,5) are divided into at least three wire segments assuming directions deviating from the preceding and/or following wire segments.

  • Patent number: 4681339
Abstract: A ski binding part, in particular a front jaw, having a guide rail adapted to be fastened to the upper side of a ski and on which is arranged a jaw unit movable in a longitudinal direction of the ski and is secured on a base plate. A housing is provided and a locking mechanism for locking the jaw unit in predetermined sliding positions on the guide rail. The locking mechanism has a locking part which is movably held on the jaw unit and which can be moved by a spring into a form-locking engagement selectively with a complementary locking recess on the guide rail. An operating member is adapted to engage the locking part for effecting a disengagement of the locking part from the complementary locking recess. The operating member is supported on the locking part and is provided with at least two surfaces defining an angle with one another and of which each lies at a different distance from a support point and thus determines the engaged or disengaged position of the locking part.
