  • Patent number: 5984562
Abstract: An arrangement for fixing a tubular element, such as a shaft, that is provided with a bore and a flange in position with respect to plate element involves the use of a ball that pressed into the bore in the tubular element. To achieve a simple fixation that is secure in both axial directions, the plate element is fixed on one side by the flange of the tubular element and on the other side by the bulge that is created through insertion of the ball into the bore in the tubular element. The ball has a greater diameter than that of the bore in the tubular element so that insertion of the ball into the bore causes the tubular element to become enlarged, thus forming the bulge.

  • Patent number: 5015216
Abstract: In a pre-mounted tensioning device the fastening bolt is covered by the idler wheel. The fastening bolt is serviced through a recess provided in the wheel surface. A pre-mounted unit is created through the insertion of a fastening bolt whose head is pushed by spring elements against the wheel surface, thus preventing the idler wheel from turning and forcing the recess to coincide with the fastening bolt.

  • Patent number: 4889520
Abstract: Two springs inserted in series, which press a tension roller against a drive belt, are provided in a tension device for a drive belt. The tension spring essentially effects adjustment of the tension roller during assembly and after that effectively is inoperative. The working spring is active during operation and within a limited range of adjustment of the tension roller. The tensions of the two springs are designed so that during assembly equilibrium of forces exists at a middle working point within the path of adjustment. These features result in a simple and precise adjustment during assembly.

  • Patent number: 4872768
Abstract: In a swivel bearing for a braking device the fixed machine part is provided with a flange which has friction surfaces for damping the swivel motion. A flange sleeve made of sheet metal axially and radially surrounds a flange which adjoins the front side of a sleeve section belonging to the swivel arm. The resulting annular space contains, besides the flange, an axially acting spring washer. The flange sleeve itself may optionally have an axial spring action. The flange sleeve is secured axially and against torsion at the sleeve section by means of a turned edge or similar means. The result is a compact arrangement which does not easily disassemble, even in an unmounted condition.

  • Patent number: 4865469
Abstract: A bearing on a shaft is separated from the bore of a housing by an intermediate sleeve. The sleeve has an annular recess in its end surface, the end surface being spaced from the shaft. A sealing element extends radially in the annular recess and axially between the shaft and the intermediate sleeve. The axially extending arm of the sealing element has a flange extending behind a radially extending surface of the intermediate sleeve to axially hold the sealing element, with play, to the intermediate sleeve. The sealing element is mounted with prestress on the shaft, to rotate therewith during operation.

  • Patent number: 4818124
Abstract: The non-rotating bearing ring of a pivot mounted roller is mounted to be radially movable on an undulated spring and axially held between two machine parts. Friction is produced by relative radial movement between the end surface of the bearing ring and the radially extending surfaces of the machine parts, to result in damping by dissipation of energy. The rubbing surfaces can be coated with friction layer or a solid sliding washer can be employed instead of a coated surface.

  • Patent number: 4764157
Abstract: A tensioning mechanism for drive belts which consists of a support arm, a rotating tensioning roll mounted on the arm, and a pivot bearing on the support arm a certain distance away from the tensioning roll. The tensioning mechanism is attached together with a mounting plate by a fastener to a machine block. A spring urges the tensioning roll away from the mounting plate and toward the drive belt. In the area of the pivot bearing, the mounting plate has, in the axial direction of the bearing, a fork-shaped cross section with shank sections which support the pivot bearing on both sides, radially and axially, by way of the fastener.

  • Patent number: 4752280
Abstract: A tensioning arrangement for a drive belt includes a support, a tension roller rotatably mounted on one end of the support, a swivel bearing arranged on the support at a distance from the tension roller, a swivel-damping element in the form of a linear-acting frictional damper having a master piston and a slave piston arranged in and separately frictionally engaging a cylinder, a spring arranged concentrically around the cylinder and coupled to the master piston, and a spring arranged inside the cylinder and coupled to the slave piston. The displacement of the master piston in one direction is opposed by the frictional forces separately acting on both pistons, whereas the displacement of the master piston in the other direction is opposed by the frictional forces acting on only the master piston.

  • Patent number: 4679458
Abstract: A worm gear has a threaded spindle and a threaded nut, the thread on the spindle or the nut or on both having a profile such that the transition regions connecting the thread crown surface to the thread flanks are rounded, as is the crown surface itself. Further, the spindle thread and nut thread are intermeshed with axial and radial play such that radial forces exerted under torque loading are transmitted only by areas of the crown surface, which transmitted forces are supported by the respective areas of the opposing groove bottom. Smooth functioning is ensured even when the threaded spindle occupies a position of maximum inclination relative to the nut.

  • Patent number: 4618335
Abstract: A tension-adjusting device for a driving belt comprising a tension roller and having an engagement arrangement provided between a support of the tension roller and a machine frame for enabling stepwise swiveling movement about a partially disengaged mounting bolt. The axis of swivel is radially displaced from the rolling axis of the tension roller. The engagement arrangement comprises a projection formed on the support radially displaced from the axis of swivel and a plurality of depressions formed in the machine frame and arranged at regular intervals along an arc defined by the path of travel of the projection during swiveling, whereby the projection is engageable with each depression, thereby defining a corresponding step in a range of adjustment of the tension of the driving belt.
